Live-Stream Worship Sunday, March 29
We are thankful for the many who were able to join the live-stream this past Sunday morning and evening. Not only are local families hearing the preached Word of God, but folks from Qatar, Malaysia, and Indonesia joined us as well! What a wonderful opportunity for the gospel to reach the far corners of the earth!

We are aware that Facebook Live experienced technical difficulties last Sunday at 11am, and our homepage did not stream seamlessly in the evening. We have heard the best resource is our YouTube page. If you encounter interruptions while streaming the morning or evening worship service, please try another website with the live-stream. The live-stream can be found on four different websites listed below.

Fireside Devotional
Each Wednesday one of our pastors will be doing a Fireside Devotional that is fitting for you and your family during this season. Watch for a new devotional every Wednesday evening on our social media platforms or at ChristCovenant.org/FiresideDevotionals.

Pastor Bernie Lawrence brought us a great word of encouragement this week about God's character.
Ministry Highlight: Saying Goodby to
 Bernie & Pat Lawrence
Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Romans 12:10

If you were to see a photo history of Christ Covenant Church from its very earliest days to today, it wouldn’t take long for you to see a common thread, the Lawrences. Pat and Bernie met each other at Christ Covenant. They fell in love, married, and built a family that embraced hospitality as their shared ministry. The Lawrences hosted decades’ worth of small groups and Bible Studies, countless meals, strangers, and friends – and friends of friends.

Their love for others always included our church family. So, it was no surprise when Bernie left a career in business to join the staff of our growing congregation. As important as his administrative and management skills were, God had put Bernie in the center of church life because he had the gifts Christ Covenant Church would need often.

Bernie’s godly wisdom and his confidence in God’s Word as an unfailing source of guidance for all of life have been used by God to resolve differences, protect against ruinous actions, and heal relationships. He has represented our Presbytery as a mentor for pastors and elders and has provided wise counsel.

As our Senior Associate Pastor. Bernie has been tireless in assuring we care well for the spiritual needs of our church family. It is not an exaggeration to say that almost every person in our congregation has a personal story of a time in their lives when Bernie was with them to pray or share exactly the right Scripture for the challenge they faced. Beyond what he has done personally, Bernie has taught by example, encouraging his fellow pastors and scores of interns and seminarians to embrace their roles as shepherds with a willingness to lovingly care for each sheep in their care. He has prepared our elders and deacons to work with our pastors in the shepherding communities. He has seen us grow in our desire to love one another well. He knows our history and our commitment to stand on truth and walk by grace. Most of all, he knows that God loves His children and will care for this congregation in the future just as He has in the past.

Because this is true, we can share Bernie and Pat Lawrence’s joy today as they embrace a new season of ministry with time for extended visits with their children and their grandchildren. Pray for their smooth transition to new schedules, new opportunities, and new ways of sharing the love of Christ. Pray that they will know how much we love them and honor their place in the history of Christ Covenant Church. Pray, too, that their example will never be forgotten.
Serving our Community
Christ Covenant has become part of a coalition to help out our community during this time of crisis, especially to provide food for those in need. We are partnering with the Charlotte Responds Coalition, who reports directly to the Char-Meck Emergency Management System. If you are able, would you be willing to bring non-perishable food donations over the next few weeks? Donations can be dropped off in the North Lobby from Monday – Friday between 9:00am – 4:00pm, beginning Monday, March 30. No one will be there; just drop your food off in the area you will see designated for the food collection. Each week we will collect and deliver food to a distribution center. This is in compliance with the regulations for our Stay at Home Proclamation, which states we can continue to care for others as needed.

Donations must be pre-packaged and not in glass jars. They specifically need proteins, so suggestions include: canned meats, beans, potato flakes, canned vegetables or fruit, oatmeal packets, granola bars, etc. Nothing fresh or frozen may be accepted. Also, please keep in mind that we do not want anyone going to the store and purchasing so many of these items that the result is empty shelves in the grocery store. Please donate what you already have in your home or purchase just one of the different types of food.

If you have any questions contact Karen Chambers at kchambers@christcovenant.org. We will keep you posted if there are other ways we can be serving those hurting in our community.
