"Where Students Come First"
A MESSAGE From Superintendent Barrett
Dear Gahanna-Jefferson families,

Last week was a very difficult time for our schools and our community. We lost two very special people and these losses were sudden, inexplicable and shocking.

I am so grateful for the outpouring of care and support from our Gahanna-Jefferson community both for our students and staff. As we worked together to find strength and hope, our GJPS families and organizations stepped up with meals, acts of kindness and words of encouragement for our grieving students, teachers, coaches and administrators. It was very moving to feel and witness the heartfelt caring and concern from our GJPS community throughout the week.

The love and support at the Gahanna Lincoln football game on Friday night was nothing short of remarkable. From the student section organizing the “blue out” to the fans flooding the field for a tribute at the end of the game, the feeling of community and pride was powerful and inspiring.

JaShawn Scott and Tommy Brown will be deeply missed, and our GJPS community found the strength to lean in, support one another and become closer. I am thankful and proud of our Gahanna-Jefferson family as it is indeed a very special community!

Sincerely,

Steve Barrett
