The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Friday that home tests will now satisfy the COVID-19 test requirement for passengers boarding international flights to the U.S., reports USA Today. The CDC said a home test must be a SARS-CoV-2 viral test, either NAAT or antigen, that has emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration. A telehealth service associated with the test manufacturer must supervise the test remotely and issue a detailed report that confirms the negative test result and person's identity. The CDC announced in January that all passengers 2 or older must present a negative coronavirus test taken no more than three days before their flight or proof they recovered from the virus within the past three months when traveling internationally.

Chief executives of several US and UK airlines are urging transportation leaders of both countries to conduct a summit to explore how to safely open a transatlantic travel corridor, reports Business Travel News. In a letter to US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and UK Transport Secretary Grant Shipps, the executives said the two countries' vaccine rates was the "foundation for the UK and the US to lead the world by demonstrating how to safely reopen this crucial air corridor." As of now, 44.7 percent of the U.S. adult population is fully vaccinated, as is 34.3 percent of the UK adult population. The letter's signers included American Airlines CEO Doug Parker, British Airways CEO Sean Doyle, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian, JetBlue Airways CEO Robin Hayes, United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby and Virgin Atlantic CEO Shai Weiss, representing the largest carriers in both countries with transatlantic service.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screened over 1.7 million travelers on Sunday, setting a new pandemic travel record, reports USA Today. Mother's Day weekend saw three new pandemic travel records. On Sunday, 1.7 million (1,707,805) people were screened at security checkpoints, slightly bettering the record of set on Friday (1,703,267), which eclipsed Thursday's record of 1.64 million.
