With new vaccine mandates in place -- and more possibly on the way -- individuals planning on visiting public buildings, bars, restaurants, entertainment venues, and certain travel destinations may need to prove that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 upon entry. For individuals who don't feel comfortable carrying around their paper vaccination card, there are many alternative options available. Digital vaccination records may be the most convenient way to prove vaccination status going forward, and while the US hasn't adopted an official "vaccine pass," there are currently a variety of options available. CNN has provided a guide on some of the best ways to store vaccination records including: scanning the card to a mobile device; storing vaccine information on a trusted app such as CLEAR, CommonPass, and VeriFly; and utilizing a state-approved digital vaccination pass. Click "Read More" to view the comprehensive guide as assembled by CNN.

American Airlines has announced that it plans to begin reopening its Flagship lounges in September and will continue the process throughout the fall. American will begin with the first location opening September 14, at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The carrier said the reopened lounges would boast new menus from James Beard Foundation chefs, more ways to access the lounges, and recognizable touches from the inflight experience. Later in fall, locations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Terminal 4, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) Terminal D, and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) Terminal 3 will reopen.

The US government has extended the ban on nonessential travel along the land borders with Canada and Mexico through at least September 21 in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19, reports ABC News. The decision to extend border closures comes weeks after Canada reopened to fully vaccinated Americans and permanent US residents on August 9. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said it is working with public health and medical experts to determine how to “safely and sustainably resume normal travel.” The travel restrictions have been in place since March 2020 and have been repeatedly extended while allowing commercial traffic and essential crossings to continue.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has added six more destinations to its COVID-19 Level 4 travel alert, which designates countries as having “Very High” COVID-19 levels, reports Travel Pulse. The six new destinations included are the Bahamas, Haiti, Kosovo, Lebanon, Morocco, and Sint Maarten. According to the CDC's guidance, travelers should avoid travel to those destinations, but those who must travel should make sure they are fully vaccinated. The CDC recommends all travelers (regardless of vaccination status) wear masks, self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, and get tested three to five days after they travel.

Boom Supersonic, an aerospace startup, plans to revive supersonic commercial air travel across the Atlantic, reports Reuters. The Boom Overture is expected to fly 65 passengers from New York to London in just over three and a half hours, Newark to Frankfurt in four hours, and eventually, San Francisco to Tokyo in six hours. Boom is building a 1/3 scale prototype of the aircraft and hopes to begin test flights next year. It also plans to break ground for a factory for the Overture in 2022, with planes rolling off the assembly line in 2025, followed by the first passenger flights in 2029. Blake Scholl, chief executive and founder of Boom, said the plane will run on 100% sustainable aviation fuel, built from carbon that has been removed from the atmosphere. Supersonic commercial air travel has not been used since the 1970s, when the SST Concorde was flown by British Airways and Air France.
