Lill Avenue before and after it was repaved.
|
Lill Avenue and
Altgeld Avenue have recently been repaved after completion of new water main projects. This project is one of the many vital infrastructure improvements in the 43rd Ward this year.
These large infrastructure projects are currently underway:
Water Mains:
As part of the
Capital Improvement Program, 6 miles of 100 year old water mains will be replaced in the 43rd Ward and water main work will soon begin on Willow Street west of Larrabee Street to Halsted. Homeowners will be notified via letter before any project work begins.
Street Lighting Replacement:
New Street lights are being installed on
Sheffield Avenue, from Armitage to North Ave., and
Lincoln Park West, from Fullerton to Clark. Planning is underway to install new streetlights on
Orchard Street, from Armitage to Willow.
Street lights will be replaced with LED fixtures, which consume 50-75% less electricity. In addition, the
new lights feature a "shielded" design to ensure the light is focused downward toward the street and sidewalk where it is needed. In addition, all LED fixtures will be limited to a maximum correlated color temperature (CCT) of 3000K or less, and most will contain power sources that can be remotely adjusted to change light levels where needed.
