MAIN STREET DETOUR
Main Street Closed Weekend of September 7
Main Street, Yarmouth will be closed the weekend of Sept 7. Traffic will be stopped at York, heading west and at School, heading east. The closure will begin Friday night, typically at 10 pm and will re-open Monday at 4 am.  The approved detours for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles will be posted, but please plan a little extra time for traveling to church that Sunday morning.

Ingathering, a UU tradition, is a time where we greet long time friends and welcome newcomers as we begin our church year together. This year, we'll also be welcoming our new interim minister, Rev. Frieda Gillespie, as she leads her first worship service at First U.
FAITH FORMATION & RE PROGRAMS
WELCOME TO OUR NEW TEACHERS
Please welcome our new teachers in Children’s Chapel, Lanette Bryant and Anna Bianconi! Lanette is currently working to obtain her MSW and is an intern at the Intercultural Community Center. Lanette brings a passion for social justice to her work with children and will primarily be with our older kids, grades 3—4. Anna works as a behavioral health professional during the school year and is working towards her masters degree. Anna grew up in the UU church and is excited to share those positive experiences with the next generation of UU kids. Anna will primarily be with our younger kids, pre-K—2.

NURSERY STAFF, RE ASSISTANTS WANTED AT FIRST U
Work just 1-3 hours per week on Sunday mornings and/or Monday evenings. Redcross Babysitting Certification required. Open to teens and adults. $12/hour. Contact Gwen at gwenatfirstu@gmail.com for more info.

ADULT CONVERSATION CIRCLES: NEW DAY, NEW TIME
Yes, Adult Conversation Circles (also known as Adult RE), facilitated by Rev. Frieda Gillespie, will be moving to the 1st and 3rd Mondays at 6:00 pm. Children are also welcome to come to play games, do activities, and connect with their UU peers in a safe, inclusive environment. The first ACC and UU Games evening will be held on Monday, September 17 at 6 pm.
OUR WHOLE LIVES PROGRAMS OFFERED THIS FALL
For Middle Schoolers (7th - 8th grade) - Thursdays, October 11 - November 15, 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm, held at First Parish, UCC in Yarmouth.

For High Schoolers (10th - 12th grade) - Sundays beginning September 16, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm, held at First Parish, UU in downtown Portland.
What is Our Whole Lives? The Our Whole Lives program is a comprehensive, accurate, and developmentally appropriate human sexuality curriculum available for kindergarten aged children through senior adulthood. Developed to meet or exceed the National Sexuality Education Standards, OWL empowers participants to make informed, responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior.

2018 - 2019 PROGRAM REGISTRATION
All children and youth attending First U programs must complete registration information. You can view/print the Program Registration in advance or complete a copy available at church in September.
CONGREGATIONAL LIFE
MUSIC ON MAIN: HANZ ARAKI BAND
TONIGHT at 7:30 pm, Sanctuary
Join flute/whistle player and singer Hanz Araki along with Colleen Raney, Elly Marshall, and Yarmouth's own Miles Isacke for a fantastic night of traditional Irish tunes and songs. Tickets $15 at the door.

Pastoral Emergencies
If you have a pastoral emergency, you can contact Rev. Frieda Gillespie on her cell phone at 508-207-7566. Please note that most weeks she will be in Yarmouth Sunday - Tuesday and working from her home office in MA Wednesday - Friday. Saturdays are typically her day off, but she will answer calls for pastoral emergencies.
