Artist’s Opening:

Saturday, May 13 | 1pm – 3pm

JOHN DOYLE

Bognor Marsh - acrylic on canvas, 36 x 36 inches

John Doyle’s Between Here and There is filled with absorbing and painterly visions of the land. Form and dimension merge in the pieces through the artist’s expressive paint, bringing their viewer to contemplation of change and respite, serenity and transcendence. With works of varying subject and scale, each piece carries Doyle’s singular artistic vision of the limitless and profound nature of our environment.

JOHN DOYLE

1890 Barn Ruin - acrylic on canvas, 11 x 14 inches

“There is a temporal consideration of the here and there; of present and past and that is the traces of influences back through time. It has been said that art arises from art as much as from nature.”

- John Doyle

Doyle’s seasoned and concise brushwork appears throughout the exhibition along with his accomplished approach to composition. In paintings like Neighbours and Mac Johnson’s Silo, we can see the elegance of Doyle’s fusion of line and shape as they combine to create dimensionality and form.

JOHN DOYLE

Mac Johnson's Silo - acrylic on canvas, 16 x 16 inches

Born in Toronto in 1950, John Doyle graduated from York University Fine Arts in 1973 and paints in studio each day. Doyle is a prominent figure in Canadian landscape painting, having exhibited across the country in his distinctly expressive and dynamic style. Living and working in his home outside of Toronto, Doyle’s works are earnestly admired across ages, from former students and collectors to new and enthused appreciators. His canvases are found in a wide array of significant private and corporate collections throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe.

ANJA KARISIK

Transitions - A New Series

Anja Karisik releases her newest breathtaking collection of oils in Transitions. The seven works of the series are a result of Karisik’s attention being increasingly drawn closer to home in the artist’s walks along the Humber River during breaks from painting in studio.

ANJA KARISIK

River Dance (Transitions No. 7) - oil on canvas, 36 x 36 inches

The title Transitions is multifaceted, with the pieces exploring the influence of passing water, the changing of seasons, and activity in the riparian environments where water and land meet. These interwoven compositions share locale as well as an endless unfurling of natural form where exquisite detail plays with the obscurity of reflection.

Contact us for a catalogue of Karisik’s Transitions paintings and be sure to visit the gallery to see these exceptional new works in person.
