November 7 - December 5 . 2020

Shilling's Colorado introduces a collection of rich new oils in bold strokes of consummate paint. Each movement rests upon the other, shaping visionary scenes that are alternately affectionate, otherworldly, comic and breathtaking. The titles themselves add poetic value that gestures toward the depth of the storytelling that exists within each piece.

Colorado opens during a momentous time in Travis Shilling's career. Among many notable recent events, Shilling’s first public exhibition in the United States was met with acclaim by both patrons and press, and has subsequently seen its works acquired by significant private and public collections. Shilling receives further praise this month in Artist's Magazine as they profile the influence of heredity in both Shilling and Picasso's artistic families.

Shilling’s "imaginative works...reflect his interest in storytelling."

The solo exhibition of intimately scaled works were notably produced in the artist’s home as opposed to in studio, adding to their collectable nature. The domestic intimacy of the home meets with even greater familiarity as the exhibition’s title is drawn from the artist’s middle name, Colorado.

Later this month, the gallery will publish the first installment of From the Collectors’ Den, a serial focus on significant historical works of Canadian art making. The series will create an opportunity to share in-depth stories and deeper understandings of the influential artists and works that stand at the vanguard of our artful past.

The gallery’s website is continually updated with additions and our digital presence reflects the dynamic nature of our space as a cultural hub for artists, art appreciators and collectors.

The artists that we work alongside are artfully engaged and their visits to the gallery happen on a regular basis. Ryan Dineen is currently active in studio producing new oils that are always in demand for their palpable authenticity. David Michael Scott is likewise busy and is soon to deliver a collection of new pieces. Jonathan Castellino has delivered astonishing new works that exemplify the artist’s profound artistic capacity.  Jane Everett has also recently released fresh and exquisite canvases from British Columbia.  Her new studio in Shuswap, B.C. was recently profiled in Hyperallergic's A View from the Easel
