March 19, 2026
These are the days when winter and spring collide. It will happen, quite literally, tomorrow at 10:46 AM, when winter officially gives way to spring.
It’s already happening in the environment. Browns of dead grasses, leaves, and plants are now sharing space with yellows of pollen, greens of new leaves, and bright colors of buds and flowers.
It is happening in the church year, too. Ironically, as the days lengthen, the sky brightens, and beauty springs forth around us, we’re headed into some of the darkest days in the church calendar. Those, of course, will collide beautifully with the brightest day of the year. Just as we appreciate anew the bright greens around us after spending months missing them, so we more fully grasp the meaning and power of the resurrection having spent time reflecting on Jesus’ suffering and crucifixion.
At Belin Memorial, the ministries in the weeks ahead reflect the collision of Lent and Easter, as well as celebrating the gift of spring. I encourage you to take advantage of as much of the following as you can.
Women, bring a salad or dessert to share at tonight’s Spring Selah starting at 6 PM in the Family Life Center. You will “spring into better health” by sharing time together and discussing women’s health issues. You are also encouraged to bring fruit that Belin Memorial will offer to runners on Saturday in Georgetown’s Bridge-to-Bridge run.
Learn more about the United Methodist Church’s humanitarian relief agency by watching this video about UMCOR and visiting the UMCOR website. You’ll be invited to give to UMCOR Sunday. The gifts we give in this special offering offset UMCOR's operational costs, so that when a particular disaster strikes and you want to support that recovery, 100% of your gifts will go there.
Camellia Community Event on the Henrietta Huff Garden Trail – this Saturday, March 21 from 10 AM to 12 Noon. Celebrate the beauty and care of camellias. Enjoy live demonstrations covering several important gardening techniques. It will include hands-on learning for gardeners of all skill levels.
Coastal Carolina University Singers will present a concert in the Belin sanctuary this Saturday, March 21, at 7 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
Please remember to donate individually wrapped candy to be placed in plastic eggs for the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt. Bring the candy to the Family Life Center no later than this Sunday, March 22.
The final Wednesday Noon Lenten service this year is this Wednesday, March 25. We will welcome the Reverend Jonathan Nettles, newest member of Belin Memorial’s Pastoral Cabinet, as our preacher.
The Belin Memorial Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 28 from 10 AM until 12 Noon. All families are invited to join us for a morning full of fun, laughter, and celebration.
United Methodist Men will gather on Monday, March 30 at 6 PM in the FLC. John Moak, a retired EMS helicopter pilot, will be the guest speaker and share powerful, meaningful stories from his years of service. Please RSVP by Sunday, March 29 to Gordon Myers, UMM President (gordonmyers.belinummpresident@gmail.com; 843.344.4256).
There are just a few spots left for the Spring Journey of Justice and Community. Registration and payment need to be in by March 30. Contact Will Malambri (willm@belinumc.org; 843-651-5099) for more information.
