Pastor's Notes
from the desk of Will Malambri:

In the midst of helpful instructions about how to share a faithful life, Colossians 3:15 offers a short sentence that makes the rest of the good living more possible. The sentence is, “ And be thankful. ” To be clothed with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, to bear with one another and forgive one another, to be clothed with love, and to let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts (Colossians 3:12-15) often requires a life born in thanksgiving. The surest way that I’ve found to live into those Christian virtues is to be grounded in gratitude.

Sometimes gratitude is an intentional choice one makes in spite of circumstances. When life is difficult, we may have to look for the reasons we have to give thanks and then name them as a reminder to ourselves and a sign of appreciation to God. Even in the most difficult times, God is with us and offers mercy. That, in itself, is reason to give thanks.
There are other times, thankfully, when gratitude simply wells up within us, if we have even the slightest awareness of our situation.

There is plenty to have caused thanksgiving to well up in my family and me lately – the beautiful inlet and gorgeous live oaks we get see regularly now, the exciting and beautiful first Sunday of worshiping with you, your extraordinary generosity in the pounding and since, such an amazing and kind outpouring, and all the warmth you’ve shown, to a person, wherever we’ve turned since we arrived.

I’m grateful for how at home you’ve made us feel and how much we already are part of the Belin family. There is no doubt that Belin Memorial is, as the Reverends Mike Alexander and Walter Cantwell told me many times, an unusually wonderful place of ministry and service.

It is not at all difficult to be thankful these early days of settling in, getting started, and learning more about the Belin family that we’re blessed to join. The reasons are superabundant, as is my appreciation.

I thank God for you and you for what you’re doing for God,
Will
from the desk of Isaac Dusenbury:

Before the Ice Cream Social and Pounding, Kate and I were feeling as much astonished as we were blessed from the amount of outreach and support that we’ve received from our Belin family. Now, on the other side of this past Sunday, we are totally flabbergasted by your gracious giving!

From the bottom of our hearts, we give our sincerest thanks to each of you. Whether you offered us food, gift cards, or a simple handshake, please know how touched and grateful my wife and I feel. Your kindness will be fondly remembered for the rest of our lives. It seems as though we won’t have to buy groceries again until our expected child is graduating high school!

Thank you, Belin Memorial. We can’t say it enough. I hope to repay your generosity through the service of my ministry—a ministry grounded in the love of Jesus Christ and neighbor.

Blessings,
Isaac
