Welcome back to the Inlet View Belin family, and happy Holy Week. We have had a great Lenten season here at Belin, full of contemplation and exploration of what it means to be human and what it means to live in a world contaminated by deadly and subtle sins. Through the sharing in fellowship meals and worship experiences, I hope that you have found strength through community as we’ve considered what we are up against and celebrated the Savior we can always turn to.
With Easter quickly approaching our opportunities to gather and worship continue. This evening, if the weather allows, we will have a footwashing service at our Seawall Cross at 6 pm. This will be an opportunity to participate in the symbolic act of washing one another’s feet and remembering the call to serve those around us. Jesus gave a mandate to the disciples that they should participate in this service for one another, and so living into that command, we hope that you will join us and worship God by offering ourselves in this gesture to one another.
Following the foot washing service, and regardless of the weather,
we will move into the Sanctuary at 7 pm to celebrate Holy Communion and remember the Last Supper, during our Maundy Thursday worship service. The Maundy Thursday service in the Sanctuary will be live-streamed.
Tomorrow is Good Friday, the day of Jesus’ Crucifixion, and so we will be gathering in the Sanctuary at 7 pm to re-read those stories of the events leading up to Christ’s death. This reverent service helps us to come to terms with the pain, suffering, and evil that Jesus encountered leading up to his death. The Tenebrae service will also be live-streamed.
Early on Easter morning, the disciples began to realize that the story was not over, they realized that God was determined to have the final word. We will gather early in the morning on Sunday (6:30 am) to celebrate the Sunrise Easter Service at our Seawall Cross. Our celebration of the Resurrection will continue through the morning. There will be five opportunities to worship with us on Easter. Beginning with the Sunrise Service at 6:30 am, then we will have our Easter Services in the Sanctuary and Harbor during our normal weekly worship times at 8:45 am and 11 am. The Sanctuary and Harbor services will be live-streamed as well. As we celebrate the Resurrection on Easter morning we will stand in awe of God’s final authority, revealed in the Risen Christ.
It’s a busy time in the lives of disciples, and so wherever you are, I hope that you will take a little extra time this Holy weekend to admire God’s work in our individual lives and God’s work in this ancient story of human salvation and atonement. Thanks be to God!

Take part in "The Flowering of the Cross” this Easter Sunday. “Living Crosses” will be located at the seawall, outside the sanctuary (roadside) and in The Harbor. Before or after services, worshippers are invited to place fresh, living blooms on the crosses. The act transforms a barren cross, a reminder of Jesus' death, into a joyful Easter symbol. |

There will be no Sunday School (children - adult) or
Youth Group on Easter Sunday. Nursery will be available
for 8:45 AM and 11 AM Easter services only.

Footwashing Service
6 PM TODAY at the Seawall Cross
|
After washing his disciples feet, Jesus said, "If I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet" (John 13:14). This mandate, as well as his corresponding command that we love one another (John 13: 34), gives us the name Maundy (as in mandate) Thursday. On the night of the Last Supper, Jesus washed his disciples' feet and commanded us to do the same.
As a part of our Maundy Thursday commemoration this evening, there will be a 6 PM Footwashing Service at the seawall cross. During this service, participants will be invited to both wash another's foot and then have their foot washed. Those who attend the 6 PM service are encouraged to join others at the 7 PM sanctuary service that will include Holy Communion. Come experience Maundy Thursday in these full and meaningful ways.

UMM Good Friday Fish Fry
This Friday, April 15, 11:30 AM - 1 PM & 5 PM - 6:45 PM

This Good Friday, April 15, join us in the FLC for a delicious meal of fish, french fries, hushpuppies, and coleslaw. All proceeds benefit Belin Memorial's United Methodist Men. The first serving will be 11:30 AM - 1 PM, and the second serving will be 5 PM - 6:45 PM. Takeout is also available. Tickets are $12 and available from the United Methodist Men, in the church office and FLC.
UMM is also looking for volunteers to assist with the fish fry. If you are interested reach out to Bill Keesee for more information (843.458.9165).

Daddy-Daughter Dance Tickets
Friday, April 22, 6:30 PM - 9 PM (on sale this Sunday in the FLC)

Daughters of all ages, granddads, and special father figures are invited to attend the annual Murrells Inlet Daddy-Daughter Dance. Tickets are $25 per couple ($30 for more than one daughter) and $15 per corsage (pre-order by April 19). All proceeds benefit the Guatemala Mission Team. Tickets are available in the church office and Lee's Inlet Apothecary. |

Epworth Spotlight
Mother's Day Offering Sunday, May 8

The South Carolina UMC Annual Conference has designated this day to take a special offering for the ministry of Epworth Children‘s Home. Epworth is not an apportioned item. It relies heavily on the offerings received on Mother‘s Day to provide quality care to the 100 plus individuals who are in Epworth's care at any given moment.

Blessing of The Inlet
We Need You

On May 7, 2022, The Blessing of the Inlet will celebrate its 26th year as one of the Inlet’s most revered festivals. The festival is held annually on the first Saturday in May from 9 AM – 3 PM and has grown to attract thousands of participants. This festival is highlighted by the Blessing of the Inlet service at 10 AM. The "Blessing" will be administered by pastors Will Malambri, Isaac Dusenbury, and J.T. Brown. The 10 AM service will be held at the seawall cross. Vendors will open at 9 AM.
BOI Volunteers
We need you! There are many positions for volunteers to help with Blessing of the Inlet. Young families, this is a great opportunity for you and your kids to get involved. We need help with set up and clean up. There is something for everyone. This is an important job to help ensure this community-wide event is a success. Get involved and help our church with this outreach mission that has become a Murrells Inlet tradition for many. Contact marym@belinumc.org for more information.

Angel Sponsors are needed to support this year's Blessing of The Inlet. One way to support this great event is to become an Angel Sponsor. A $500 donation will reserve you a "logo" ad in this year's program booklet. For a $200 donation, your business name will be listed as one of our Blessing Angels.
BOI T-Shirts
T-Shirts are available for purchase in the church office, Lee's Inlet Apothecary, Lee's Inlet Kitchen, Lazy Gator, or in the Family Life Center. The shirts are $15. Cash or checks (made payable to Belin UMC Youth Ministry) accepted. This year's design was created by 6th grader, Ada Cathryn Allen.
Strawberry Cutting Volunteers
The ladies of Grace Circle need your help cutting strawberries for this year's Strawberry Shortcake booth at the Blessing of The Inlet. If you can assist, bring a paring knife, cutting board, and a smile on Friday, May 6 from 9 AM - 2 PM. stay for all or part of the day - everyone's help will be appreciated.
Everyone is invited to come to help us celebrate the glory of God and all with which He has blessed us.

Women's "Bold" Retreat
Friday, October 14 - Sunday, October 16

It is time to register for the Belin Women's "Bold" Retreat. This year we will gather in a beautiful oceanfront home in the Cherry Grove section of North Myrtle Beach. It is only about an hour's drive so all of our working women can come after work on Friday.
The retreat is $300 per person. This includes your room, linens, and all meals and materials. There are only 32 spaces, so register soon. A $100 deposit will hold your spot. The balance is due by October 5.
This year we are excited to have Rev. Julie Songer Belman join us and lead us through scripture on being a Bold Christian believer in 2022. She is the Senior Pastor of Bethel United Methodist Church in Columbia, SC. She is wife to Travis and mother to three precious children. Her deep faith and desire to serve "boldly" will bless us and motivate us to walk our faith in a meaningful way.

Almighty God, shield of the oppressed, hear us as we pray for the friendless and the lonely, the tempted and the unbelieving. Be merciful to those who suffer, in body and mind, to those who are in danger or distress, and who have suffered loss. Let your love surround the infirm and the aged. Be especially near to those who are passing through the valley of death. May they find eternal rest, and light at evening time.
