Inmate Remains in Critical Condition Following Monday's Lightening Strike at David Wade Correctional Center
Other nine inmates are back in prison doing fine
BATON ROUGE, La. – An inmate injured during Monday night's lightening strike at David Wade Correctional Center in Homer, Louisiana remains in critical condition at a Northwest Louisiana Hospital. Lightening struck around 6 p.m. while the inmates were playing flag football, sending 10 prisoners to area hospitals for various injuries. All but one have returned to the prison following treatment for cuts, bruises, headaches, dizziness and disorientation.

David Wade Correctional Center emergency medical staff quickly stabilized the inmates before transporting them to local hospitals.

The lightening strike came without warning, as it is David Wade Correctional Center's procedure to clear the yard when potentially dangerous weather approaches. The strike hit the ground adjacent to the injured inmates

For security reasons, the Department will not release the names of the inmates or their locations.
