Expressing gratitude for something we’ve experienced or received activates the reward pathways in our brains that bring us happiness, increases our awareness of the good at work in our lives, and helps us to connect with others in ways that build healthy relationships and positive day-to-day interactions. Simply put, practicing gratitude on a regular basis increases our happiness and well-being!
Ways to incorporate gratitude into our routine may include keeping a journal, creating a gratitude list or word wall, consciously saying “thank you” to someone for a specific experience, gift, or service, and “paying it forward” by doing something kind for someone else. Another great way is to incorporate gratitude into your daily mindfulness practice. Please enjoy this mindful practice of gratitude from Inner Explorer!
