The transition to retirement, or the end of paid work, can lead to a liminal period, letting go into uncertainty, loss of identity, and loss of meaning. This can trigger a late-life identity crisis, which requires a turning toward the inner world and the practices needed to break through denial, attune to the soul’s longings, and explore meaning beyond doing. If we complete this rite of passage, we can uncover its spiritual promise: a deeper identity beyond success, productivity, and achievement. Shifting our identities from role to soul, we release the heroic ego’s strivings and step into the archetype of the noble Elder. This workshop is based on Connie's new book,The Inner Work of Age: Shifting from Role to Soul, click HERE to read more.
Connie's book won both the 2021 American Book Fest Award and the 2021 Best Indie Book Award for best inspirational non-fiction. Connie has been doing contemplative practices for more than 50 years. She is a wife, stepmother, and grandmother. After all these roles, she’s practicing the shift from role to soul.
