President's Letter: Pausing to Celebrate and Innovate

While our region faces real challenges, from rising living costs and reduced federal support to job losses and the added strain of the recent government shutdown, we remain steadfast in our mission. In the midst of these hardships, we persevere, innovate, and continue to find moments to celebrate.

Most importantly, we are deeply grateful to everyone who stands with Pathway Homes. Your unwavering support, compassion, and partnership make it possible for us to uplift our community and bring hope to those who need it most. Together, we are creating pathways to stability, recovery, and brighter days ahead. READ MORE

The MOU Launches in Northern Virginia!

We are elated to share that our new mobile shower trailer, the Pathway Homes Mobile Outreach Unit (MOU) is on the road! On October 28, we launched our inaugural ride and were able to provide hot showers on a chilly fall day at a local church in Northern Virginia.

Through this innovative initiative, we offer access to showers and hygiene products, comfort, and dignity to our neighbors experiencing homelessness throughout Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. It is more than just a shower, though; it is also an opportunity to create a pathway to permanent housing. Our case managers will be available to guests to connect them to county housing resources and make the necessary referrals to get them started on their way home.

Thank you to our partners for their generous support in making this vision a reality: Virginia Housing, Potomac Health Foundation, The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, Qlarant Foundation, Amazon and Around Town Movers.

Thanks also to a Pathway Homes resident, whose knitted woolen hats brought some much-needed warmth and color to a cold afternoon! Each guest was gifted a hat to keep their heads warm after they stepped outside the shower unit. She has now pulled together a group of other resident knitters to create more hats and scarves for MOU guests.

We would love to accept handmade hats and gloves to provide our MOU guests to with warmth this season. If you know any knitters who would like to engage in a meaningful volunteer activity, get in touch with Anne at afactor@pathwayhomes.org.

Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Recognizes Pathway Homes

Pathway Homes was deeply honored at the November Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meeting where we received a resolution in recognition of our 45 years of service to Northern Virginia and Fairfax County.

This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the work we hold closest to our mission: ensuring that individuals with complex behavioral health needs have not only a safe, permanent home, but also a community that values their voice, dignity, and leadership.

“We are grateful to the Board of Supervisors for acknowledging Pathway Homes’ commitment to keeping the individuals we serve at the center of every conversation, said Sylisa Lambert-Woodard, President and CEO of Pathway Homes. “The Board’s resolution highlighted something that defines who we are as an agency–our belief that those with lived experience must help guide the systems that impact their lives.”

Grateful for the Overwhelming Support of the

2025 Steps to Pathways Breakfast!

The Steps to Pathways Breakfast is the signature fundraising event for Pathway Homes each year, and this year did not disappoint! Thanks to the support of our sponsors and individuals who gave generously, we raised over $150,000.

While we take pride in all the remarkable individuals who attended the Breakfast in support of Pathway Homes, we are particularly proud to present two exceptional Pathway Homes residents also in attendance. They have overcome significant challenges in their journeys toward recovery, are thriving in stable housing, and eagerly share the message that recovery and stability are indeed possible.

In His Own Words: La'Velle Crawford

I'm La’Velle Crawford, and I am a Pathway Homes success story. I have 348 days clean. I have to say that, had I not been here, do you really think so, sir? Not at all. I would not have the clean time. I wouldn't be involved in NA or AA. When I go to a meeting, people recognize me by face: "Hey, La’Velle!” You know how good that feels? To walk into a room and people know who you are and what you're about...READ MORE

Volunteer Spotlight: Amazon and Fannie Mae

October and November have proven to be very popular times for corporate groups to gather and engage in team-oriented activities to help both our current Pathway Homes residents as well as to reach out to those in our community who are still struggling to find stable housing and begin their own paths to mental health recovery. Amazon Web Services and Fannie Mae both stepped up in big ways this fall to support Pathway Homes.  READ MORE
