Crowd-Based Innovation for Educators
July 31, 2018: The 2018-19 Cohort Is Officially Launched!
InnovateK12's National Cohort: Connecting Leaders via Zoom
On Thursday, July 26th, the InnovateK12 team hosted a remote Zoom video conferencing call that was attended by nearly 20 different school districts from across the country. Many of the 2018-19 cohort members will launch their crowd-based innovation event in September, so there is a sense of urgency within the group. Click here to see the video recording of the meeting, and check the InnovateK12 website for notes and an updated Q&A based on questions from the meeting.

2018-19 Cohort...Finalize Your Event Landing Page This Week
InnovateK12's tech expert Kristin Daniels is ready to help you finalize your crowd-based innovation event landing page. Click the link above and connect with Kristin today so that your event page is ready to go when you need it. She'll have a few questions for you about page-setup and event dates, but it won't be long before your site is up and running! To the left, you can see the creative branding that Pike County (GA) Mike Duncan and his crew have developed for their event. Very cool!
**This Week's Superintendent Call Is ThuAug2 @ Noon CST
Typically, the InnovateK12 team will host a Wednesday noon open call for cohort superintendents (or designees) who have questions or who want to connect on urgent topics. Consider it a sort of "Office Hours" for the 2018-19 cohort. This week's superintendent call will be on ThuAug2 instead of WedAug1. There is no obligation to join, but all are welcome. The link to the Zoom call for ThuAug2 at noon CST can be found here .

Spotlight on Lean Solutions:
Minnetonka's Capstone
Over the past three years, the Minnetonka innovation team has been working on a "Big" idea that is a great example of a lean solution. Originally proposed as a "J-Term" option for Seniors, the Capstone program has become a very popular way for Seniors who have completed their AP and/or IB exams to explore a profession, career, or field of interest and receive credit for their time and effort. This link features a Minnetonka student sharing her story. Total cost to the school district for this innovation? Zero
Don’t Miss This: ”Student Innovation Teams” Cohort!
There has been a very high level of interest in running the Student Innovation Team model at member districts’ high schools. The InnovateK12 team is planning a Spring 2019 event that will bring student leaders from these schools together for a Student Innovation Summit. If you are planning to run a Student Innovation Team program at your high school, we’ll provide a series of opportunities to connect students so that they can share their experiences and insights with each other.
