Dr. Mary Ellen Dello Stritto and Dr. Kathryn E. Linder put together a research study for Oregon State University Ecampus regarding student device preferences in their online courses.
The study surveyed online students and asked them various questions about their use of desktop computers, laptops, smart phones, and tablets. Their key findings concluded that students overwhelmingly preferred laptops for accessing the learning management system, viewing content, and for learning simulations.
Over 99% of students surveyed owned laptops, and all but two owned a smart phone.
