D2L Sunset - What You Need to Know
The first four-week summer session will be the final semester offered in D2L. As of July 1st, all courses must be offered through Canvas. Because of this, it's important to make sure you're saving all of your D2L content.

Here is a timeline of events:
  • May 2019: All quizzes need to have been requested to be moved into Canvas from D2L. After May, the Innovations team will no longer be able to facilitate the transfer of quizzes.
  • June 2019: All courses will be taught in Canvas. There will no longer be any courses taught through D2L.
  • January 2020: All D2L content will need to be exported, saved, and imported into Canvas sandboxes by January 2020.
  • June 2020: All access to D2L will be removed. Faculty, staff, students, and LMS administrators will permanently lose all access to D2L.

If you need content copied over from D2L to Canvas, please let us know as soon as possible so we can facilitate your request!
Coming Soon to Innovations in Learning!
Innovations in Learning has been busy this summer creating a multimedia room for instructional use. The room features high-end camera equipment and video editing software. The suite is designed for recording lectures and welcome videos.

In addition to the camera and editing equipment, Innovations also purchased a glass lightboard. This technology allows instructors to demo on the board while also lecturing to students. The camera's technology flips the image on the board so it's readable both to the instructor writing and the students watching the video.

Check out our quick preview, and email [email protected] if you're interested in learning more about the board or booking some recording time over the summer!
Interactive Textbook at University of Houston
An article from Campus Technology showcases the University of Houston where they're testing interactive textbook pages.

Students download an app (available for both iOS and Android) and are able to interact with their printed textbook through the app on their phone.

The app allows students to interact with the author(s), other students, and a variety of activities from within the app.

Co-author of the book, Harvey Levenson, said the book "appeals to different learning styles — reading, viewing and hearing."

Canvas Tier 1 Support available 24/7
Instructors, please remember that Canvas Tier 1 Support is available 24/7, 365 days a year to answer any questions you may have about the learning management system.

Our administrative rights have changed in the migration from D2L to Canvas, so a lot of what we were able to assist with in the past has been limited.

Tier 1 Support is available through the Help menu on the black navigation bar within Canvas. You have the option to chat (instant message), call, or email Tier 1 Support.

Support is also available for your students, so please direct your students to Tier 1 Support if they have any questions or need assistance.
