Celebrates 40 Years of Water Savings and Management

In 1984, Tucson Water launched the utility’s Reclaimed Water Treatment Plant and the Sweetwater Recharge Facility with ten miles of purple pipeline serving one customer, La Paloma, a nationally acclaimed destination golf course. With expansion fueled by strategic investment and a desire to support sustainable public green spaces, today’s massive, reclaimed water system is a powerhouse of savings and efficiency for Tucson.

This year, Tucson Water’s reclaimed water system celebrates 40 years of providing Tucsonans with recycled water! Using every drop of water more than once keeps our community sustainable, green, and helps our community continue to be responsible Sonoran Desert dwellers.

Wildlife Crossing Crew

Habitat Restoration Day

April 6th

It's been seven years since the Oracle Road wildlife crossings were restored and they need some maintenance! Join the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection's newly formed Desert Wildlife Crossing Crew and help them remove invasive species and plant new native plants on both the wildlife bridge and underpass. A great way to help the environment while learning about wildlife linkages and crossings during this important environmental service day.

Work starts at 8am and ends by noon and is located at the wildlife bridge and wildlife underpass on North Oracle Rd, just north of Catalina State Park in Oro Valley.

No experience required and snacks provided!

Climate Community Day

Update!

Pima Community College hosted an overwhelmingly successful Climate Community Day at their Downtown Campus on Tuesday, April 2.

This event was held to build community, enhance awareness, empower action, and connect people with the resources they need to take the next steps in creating a more sustainable future.

Events included speakers, workshops, panels, roundtables, and showcases. Attendees included high school students, PCC students, professors, administrators, and the general public.

Over a dozen environmentally focused organizations were present to share information about their efforts to protect and educate the public about the glorious Sonoran Desert.
