There are 1.4 million unpaid caregivers across Michigan. The work they do often keeps Michigan's residents from needing more costly forms of health care including nursing home and long-term care facility residence. But Michigan’s unpaid caregivers need support to continue to provide these critical services.

CHRT is delighted to welcome to its board of directors Toshiki Masaki, former chair of the State of Michigan Asian and Pacific American Affairs Commission, and Dr. Amy McKenzie, a board-certified family medicine physician and associate chief medical officer for provider engagement at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

Federally Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) must provide a comprehensive range of mental health and substance use treatment services to vulnerable individuals with both physical and behavioral health needs. Currently, Michigan has 18 CCBHCs serving areas in 18 of its 83 counties.

Erin Horne is a community engagement program manager at CHRT with a master’s in social work. Vinusha Devarakonda is a usability intern at CHRT and a master’s candidate focused on user experience.

CHRT has taken on several new projects over the last two months including research on innovative financing models for supportive housing, a pilot workplace peer support program for those struggling with Substance Use Disorder, and an analysis of Huron Valley Ambulance’s Community Paramedicine program.
