July summer appeal
July 2020| Summer Appeal and Events
During these unprecedented times, we have had to greatly alter how we provide services in order to ensure that the human trafficking victims living with us are able to stay healthy. That’s meant isolating new residents for the 14-day waiting period recommended by the CDC, providing all of our residents with PPE, and moving some of their recovery needs to a virtual platform.

At the same time that we are shifting our services to keep residents healthy and safe, we also know that the COVID crisis has driven many victims further underground. Sadly, they are not able to break free from their abusers long enough to reach out for help. This is consistent with trends we see across the nation. There is no question that in the coming months – as victims become more visible and are able to seek help – these women will need us more than ever. As we receive more applications, we realize that expansion is an absolute necessity. We must continue to be here to help them!

So, today we are reaching out to ask for your urgent support. Will you once again partner with us so that we can serve as a vital resource to help human trafficking victims break free from abuse? Will you help them transition to a happy, healthy life?

Our budget is tight, and we weren’t planning on the added expenses of COVID. Plus, we’ve had to cancel several fundraising events that provide vital funding.  A gift from you today will provide instant relief!

As one of our residents commented, ‘Being at Sanctum House is the first time I’ve ever felt safe. I don’t know where I would be without them.’ Will you help us continue to provide a safe and healthy home for recovery, healing and freedom?

With Gratitude,
Edee Franklin

In Case You Missed It
Earlier this month, we shared the Sanctum House 2019 Annual Report. Although we measure our success with more than numbers, it is also nice to be able to look back and measure our progress and some of the ways in which you all make this work possible.
We recently began a new video blog, Monday Moments. Each Monday, we will share a short little spot about something new going on in the human trafficking world or a little bit to increase your understanding of the women we serve. We will also share new laws and ways to protect your family, and more! Check it out here .

Volunteer Corner
Thank you to all of the loyal and dedicated volunteers of Sanctum House. Over the last two months I have talked to each of you and I was so pleased to hear that you are all safe and healthy. Everyone of you asked, "how are the women doing?" I was happy to report that they are doing exceptionally well considering the circumstances. You have also expressed a desire to continue to volunteer as drivers, tutors, support persons, etc. and we can't wait for the day you will be involved again. You will be the first to know when we "open up."

New volunteers are always welcome and encouraged to contact me at  maryellen@sanctumhouse.org . Until we see you again, please continue to be safe and healthy.
