Allegiant announces 'aircraft and crew base' in Flint, bringing jobs and future growth opportunities

Allegiant Travel Co. on Aug. 10 announced plans to establish a base of operations at Flint Bishop International Airport. The Las Vegas-based airline will invest $75 million to establish the new aircraft and crew base in Flint, creating at least 89 high-wage jobs and housing three Airbus A320 aircraft.


The company, which focuses on linking travelers in small-to-medium cities to world-class leisure destinations, plans to begin its base operations in Flint on Feb. 16, 2022.



At yesterday's airport news conference, Allegiant also announced new nonstop service from Bishop to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport beginning Nov. 18, with special one-way introductory fares as as low as $59.

3 reasons to sign on for the region’s largest in-person job fair on Sept. 16


With job openings in the United States hitting record highs, a national labor shortage is impacting businesses and organizations throughout the country. To assist employers in filling some of those local positions, the Flint & Genesee Group will host what’s being billed as “the largest in-person job fair in the region.”


On Sept. 16, the Flint & Genesee Career Expo will offer a platform for about 100 local employers to promote openings and conduct on-the-spot interviews for a collective 1,000+ jobs. First students graduate from local institutions compliments of Flint Promise


Three students from the first cohort of Flint Promise Scholarship Program have recently graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint and Mott Community College.


They completed their schooling and received diplomas in May. The Flint Promise Scholarship program is a last dollar scholarship that allows students who graduate from high school and live in the city of Flint to attend a local university or college without a large financial burdenREAD MORE

New grocery store in north Flint to provide healthy food options to area residents, lead to future economic growth


Gov. Gretchen Whitmer joined the Michigan Economic Development Corp. on July 27 to announce that a new co-op urban grocery store will soon be coming to the north side of Flint with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund. Intended to provide much-needed, affordable, healthy food options to area residents, the project will revitalize a long-vacant building and help address health issues in the documented “food desert” of north Flint.  READ MORE

Crowdfunding campaign launched for the ‘Perry Center Centennial Pavilion & Gardens’ project in Grand Blanc


A group of dedicated community members in Grand Blanc is coming together to create a pavilion and public gardens space in honor of the Grand Blanc Perry Center's Centennial celebration.
