Meet Taylor Curtis, RTD's first youth engagement specialist | Taylor Curtis joined RTD last month as the agency’s first youth engagement specialist, a position added to the fiscal year 2025 budget with the Zero Fare for Youth program having been made a permanent fare change in September. The public will see a lot of Curtis: She has been tasked with increasing youth participation in transit, carrying most engagement responsibilities related to Zero Fare for Youth, and working with community groups serving youth and families to help their clients understand how to use public transportation.

Chessy Brady, Transit-Oriented Development Manager, at left, and Alicia Leitgeb, Transit-Oriented Development Transportation Planner, third from left, collaborated with developers, local planners and city staff last month to take planners from the Canadian city of Calgary on a tour of Belleview and Lone Tree City Center stations. The Calgary group, led by Senior Planner Desmond Bliek, fourth from left, was interested in understanding the mix of uses and housing types, the design of streets and public spaces, and how various entities worked together around these stops. During their visit to the region, the planners also toured the Central Park neighborhood and Denver Union Station.
Mural featuring RTD's mission, vision, values installed at Customer Care Division
Visitors to the Customer Care Division at the 711 building will notice something brand-new the next time they visit. Customer Care has installed a large mural on the wall that faces out toward the Telephone Information Center (TIC) outlining RTD’s mission and vision statements, as well as the agency’s values.
“The inspiration for this wall was the customer-RTD relationship,” Telephone Information Center Manager Daniel Shea said. “Our Customer Care team works so hard and does so many great things for our customers, so it’s nice to have a visual reminder of why and how we do it.”
Customer Care partnered with Marketing Communications Manager Steve Reilly and Graphic/Web Designer Ross Hoekman to design the mural and hired third-party contractor Denver Print to install it inside the TIC.
Shea is thrilled to have a tangible display to remind himself and his staff what RTD is about: making lives better through connections.
“Forging a true connection with the community begins with a strong ‘why,’ and knowing you’re supported by the entire agency,” he said. “To reinforce that RTD shares these values is very uplifting.”
