Deputy CEO provides update on realignment process
In an email sent this morning to teams across the Deputy CEO’s Office, Angel Peña shared updated organizational charts for the DCEO Office and Infrastructure and Planning Services, outlining how the newly defined divisions will operate under the principles of collaboration, transparency, and accountability. He noted that the charts will continue to be updated as titles are refined and recruitment moves forward, with additional organizational details from other divisions to be shared later this summer.

| | | With the Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project resuming, the Internal Communications team will share weekly updates from Deputy CEO Angel Peña and the Infrastructure Delivery Team throughout this phase of the project in Inside Connections, the Hot Sheet, and The RTD (Rail Projects) Bulletin. | |
Last weekend, crews began work in the Colfax Avenue Alignment area as a part of the ongoing, multi-year Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project to reconstruct RTD’s oldest light rail infrastructure and maintain the long-term integrity of the network. Crews set up traffic control and began around-the-clock rail reconstruction activities at the Seventh Street crossing.
The project team worked with the City and County of Denver and the Colorado Department of Transportation throughout the week to finalize traffic configurations in both work areas. These collaborations resulted in traffic plans that will minimize local impacts and service impacts as much as possible while allowing crews to complete quality work in a safe and efficient manner.

Registration is open for employee-led golf tournament
The employee-led Evergreen golf tournament returns for 2026! The tournament emphasizes personal well-being through physical activity, scenic views, and connection with colleagues. Organizers note that building positive relationships outside the workplace helps strengthen human connection, which in turn supports both physical and mental energy.
The tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start on Saturday, Aug. 1, the first day of National Wellness Month. An after-party at Genesee Pub & BBQ will follow, with awards for the first-, second-, and third-place teams, and additional bonus prizes to individuals for longest drive and closest to the pin.
To enter the tournament, fill out and submit the online or print registration forms linked below, and pay the entry fee by close of business July 16. The entry fee is $125 for individuals and $500 for a team of four. Payment can be submitted via check through interoffice mail (mail code: Treasury) to Treasury Supervisor Gene Byron. Other payment options, such as cash or Venmo, may be available. Please contact Byron (gene.byron@rtd-denver.com) or Procurement Specialist I Jill Pruett (jill.pruett@rtd-denver.com) for more information.

| Wellbeing Connection: Focusing on social well-being | | | | From May 11 to June 7, about 75 RTD employees took part in the Good Nurtured Challenge, a wellness initiative that encouraged participants to spread daily acts of kindness. Research shows that people who volunteer or practice small, intentional acts of kindness experience lower stress, reduced anxiety, and even less physical pain. These simple actions don’t just brighten someone else’s day but also boost one’s own well-being in measurable ways. | | |
Social interaction is one of the eight pillars of total well-being, and nurturing it is essential to living a longer, healthier life. Social scientist Kasley Killam explores this in her TED Talk, explaining why social health is as vital as nutrition or exercise. Strong social connections can reduce stress, strengthen immunity, and lower the risk of stroke, heart disease, diabetes, dementia, depression, and even early mortality.
As RTD celebrates the success of the Good Nurtured Challenge, we also celebrate the power of connection, one conversation, one gesture, one act of kindness at a time.

From Safety and Environmental Compliance: Preparedness extends to office spaces, too | | | | When people think about emergencies in public transportation, they often picture the roadway, the rail line, or the shop floor. But office spaces can also be impacted by a fire alarm, medical emergency, severe weather event, suspicious package, building evacuation, or power outage that disrupts communication and operations. In those moments, preparation matters just as much in the office as it does in the field. | | INIT highlights RTD’s use of CAD/AVL system in the field
Innovations in Transportation Inc. (INIT), which supports RTD’s computer-aided dispatch and automatic vehicle location (CAD/AVL) system, recently highlighted the fact that the agency provides its field supervisors with laptops containing the full suite of software. “This strategic investment has transformed how supervisors perform their duties, allowing them to operate with greater independence while strengthening overall system performance,” the company wrote.
