A conversation with Capital Programs about rail reconstruction: 'This project is necessary' | Teams throughout RTD are preparing for full-depth work to reconstruct miles of light rail track in downtown Denver, an approximately $152 million project that will begin in May with five track segments at street intersections in the Downtown Loop. Led by Project Manager Jyotsna Vishwakarma, Acting Assistant General Manager, a core team from RTD Capital Programs will oversee this project: Kevin Diviness, Director of Quality Assurance; Paul von Fay, Acting Chief Engineer; Kirk Strand, Engineering Services Manager; and Jeet Desai, Engineering Construction Manager. Before the work kicks into high gear, these four made time to answer questions from employees and customers about this project. | |

RTD employees march in Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade |
There wasn’t a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow; it was the RTD parade bus! For the second year in a row, RTD team members wore their favorite shade of green and marched in the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade west of the Mississippi. They were welcomed by cheers, claps, high-fives and a catchy RTD-inspired chant.
This year, RTD was represented by Board Directors and employees from the following departments: Administration, Communications and Engagement, Legal Counsel, Service Planning and Development, and Bus Operations. Marchers waved signs and hyped up the crowd as the parade snaked through Lower Downtown. Those who joined were “lucky” to be there!
Future parade opportunities will be posted on the Hub and Inside Connections. Sign up to meet new colleagues and share your love for transit with the community we serve.

GM, CEO Debra A. Johnson shines as RTD's leader |
I would like to recognize our General Manager and CEO, Debra A. Johnson, for Transit Employee Appreciation Day. Leadership is often thankless and can be lonely. It requires one to make decisions that are difficult and often unpopular, but one must stand firm in knowing what is right and true. Ms. Johnson continues to advocate for RTD employees at the state and national level and consistently at RTD Board meetings.

Words of appreciation for mobile technologies supervisor Ryan Hull |
I would like to acknowledge Ryan Hull for Transit Employee Appreciation Day. I have been with RTD for just about 10 months, and I have not been out to see all of RTD’s facilities. Ryan offered to show me around and take a large portion of his day to drive me to each location. He took the time to introduce me to the people I will be working with. He explained how each location works and what the purpose of the location is.
