Diversity Spotlight: LGBTQIA+ Pride Month: Honoring courage, visibility, and the ongoing journey toward equity | |
Diversity Spotlight celebrates the diversity of RTD employees and the larger community that RTD serves and fosters an appreciation of our social and cultural similarities and differences. Diversity Spotlight supports RTD’s values of passion, respect, diversity, trustworthiness, collaboration and ownership.
Each June, communities across the nation recognize LGBTQIA+ Pride Month as a time to celebrate authenticity, honor resilience, and reflect on the ongoing pursuit of equality and inclusion. Pride Month traces its roots to the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQIA+ civil rights and visibility. While Pride Month themes may vary across the country each year, they are all rooted in a shared foundation of resilience, action, and unapologetic existence. Pride serves as both a celebration and a reminder of the continued importance of dignity, safety, representation, and belonging for LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities.

| RTD, Truckers Against Trafficking raise awareness of trafficking | This summer, RTD is joining members of the transportation industry across North America to educate youth, caregivers, and community members about human trafficking in age-appropriate ways. The campaign is hosted by Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT), a national nonprofit committed to educating, equipping, empowering, and mobilizing members of key industries and agencies to combat human trafficking. To date, TAT has trained more than 2 million members of the transportation industry with free, industry-specific anti-trafficking resources. | | RTD provides service, connections to major events May 28-31 | |
RTD is preparing for a surge in ridership on buses and trains May 28-31 as fans head downtown to attend a variety of major events at the Colorado Convention Center, Auraria Campus, Coors Field, and Empower Field at Mile High Stadium.
The close proximity of the venues to several bus stops and rail stations makes public transit a safe and convenient way to attend the events. In anticipation of large crowds downtown, additional Transit Police and security personnel will be deployed across the system, with an increased presence at bus stops and rail stations.
| | RTD employees compete in the 2026 Colfax Marathon | | |
The pursuit of wellness is a unified, shared experience. It has no boundaries, nor is it defined by demographics. It is diversity at its best, showcased as employees from across the region came together for the Colfax Marathon race weekend. Team RTD showed up, reflecting the vital impact of human connection to well-being.
RTD was well represented by two relay teams, as well as agency staff who participated in the walking and running events, thanks to sponsorship by the Wellbeing Team and Jennie Waski, Manager of Benefits and Wellbeing. The impact of human connection cannot be overstated, as it is the vehicle that drives people to take action toward better health and wellness.
