A new Strategic Initiative joins RTD’s three returning initiatives for the agency's 2024-25 performance cycle. The new initiative, titled Customer and Community Connections, seeks to include customer feedback and community outreach efforts as key performance indicators in the agency’s annual performance cycle alongside current initiatives Back to Basics, People Power, and Welcoming Transit Environment, supporting the agency’s Strategic Priorities of Community Value, Customer Excellence, Employee Ownership and Financial Success. | |
RTD to provide two Zero Fare to Vote days to encourage voter participation | In collaboration with the Colorado County Clerks Association, RTD will make agency services available at no cost on Tuesday, Oct. 29, National Vote Early Day; and Tuesday, Nov. 5, Election Day. “This year and in subsequent general election years, registered voters can rely on RTD to deliver them to any polling place throughout the district to exercise their constitutional right to vote,” General Manager and CEO Debra A. Johnson said. | |
Proposed January service changes include 15-min E, H line frequencies | Fresh off implementing the latest round of service changes in September, RTD is already looking ahead to January. Key adjustments in that month’s proposed service changes include combining the eastern segments of routes 1 and 44 into a new route that connects the Baker and Five Points neighborhoods while serving the Santa Fe and RiNo arts districts; reinstating the Route AB2, which provides express service between Downtown Boulder, US-36•Table Mesa and Denver Airport stations; and reinstating 15-minute frequencies on the E and H lines. | |

RTD GM/CEO attends White House event recognizing organizations working to prevent drug overdoses | |
On Oct. 8, RTD General Manager and CEO Debra A. Johnson (near center of image, wearing red) joined over 250 organizations, businesses and stakeholders from across the United States that have made voluntary commitments to the White House Challenge to Save Lives from Overdose. The challenge is a nationwide call to action to stakeholders to increase training on and access to lifesaving opioid overdose reversal medications.
At RTD, Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal medication, is carried by all POST-certified Transit Police officers and contracted security supervisors. Additionally, all contracted security guards have immediate access to Narcan in their vehicles. The medicine is also stored and available at RTD’s major transit hubs.

Boulder Puppy Club trains future guide dogs to assist blind individuals with using transit | |
Yesterday, Guide Dogs for the Blind volunteers teamed up with the Boulder Puppy Club and RTD to provide a training opportunity for puppies that will become guide dogs. Pups learned how to assist their handlers with boarding, alighting and navigating through two training buses at US36•Broomfield Station.

I want to commend our driver, Felix Bocanegra. It is always a pleasure to have him as a driver. He is skilled, navigates traffic and construction well, and quickly gets us to our destination. He always has a positive attitude and a smile and seems to enjoy his job, which can be an exception.

I’m writing because our driver, Dominic Piedra, was excellent today! He went above and beyond to help me while I was in a wheelchair. He made sure everything was ready to go and that I was comfortable! He was so professional and sweet. I will never forget this experience.

Civil Rights wants to hear from you | |
Through Oct. 31, the Civil Rights Division is conducting a brief, voluntary survey of staff to better understand how frontline employees interact with customers who speak limited or no English, as well as customers with disabilities. All employees are invited to participate who interact with customers or the public in person, over the phone or digitally (e.g., email, social media). RTD will use the results of this survey to ensure meaningful access for linguistically diverse customers, as well as to determine what resources and training employees may need to serve these customers best. The survey will take no more than 15 minutes to complete. | |
Shuttle buses replacing E, R line service near Belleview Station through tomorrow | RTD is operating bus shuttle service for E and R lines between Southmoor and Arapahoe stations through tomorrow as crews replace overhead wires at Belleview Station. | |
Operators: Provide feedback on route design, scheduling at East Metro |
Service Planning and Scheduling representatives will be at East Metro 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, for operator feedback sessions. Operators are encouraged to share thoughts on their current work, follow up on past issues and share ideas on improving routes or schedules.
Future operator feedback sessions at other RTD bus and rail divisions will occur before the year ends. Watch the Hot Sheet and Inside Connections in the weeks ahead for dates and times.
