Celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month: A commitment to inclusion and accessibility
Diversity Spotlight celebrates the diversity of RTD employees and the larger community that RTD serves and fosters an appreciation of our social and cultural similarities and differences. Diversity Spotlight supports RTD’s values of passion, respect, diversity, trustworthiness, collaboration and ownership.
October marks National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to recognize and celebrate the diverse talents and contributions of individuals with disabilities in the workforce. This year’s theme, “Access to Good Jobs for All,” highlights the critical importance of ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, has equitable access to meaningful employment opportunities. This commitment extends beyond one month; it serves as a call to action for all organizations, including RTD, to prioritize inclusivity and accessibility year-round.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month | It seems like cybercriminals craft a new scam or execute a new cyberattack every day to damage their victims’ devices and empty their wallets. Given how reliant RTD is on technology to make lives better through connections, internal cybersecurity has never been more important to defend the agency, its employees and its customers from digital threats. That is why RTD has partnered with KnowBe4 for Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Bus operator's commitment to safety, friendliness sparks joy |
I wanted to pass along a driver’s commendation. Mallard Martinez, the driver of the 8 a.m. eastbound Route 28, is an exceptional driver and representative of RTD. This route passes a senior center. He always welcomes passengers aboard and ensures they are seated safely before departing. As a regular commuter rider, I see this all the time. He also does this without any delay in schedule. He knows the regulars and is a genuine and nice guy. Please pass along my compliments to him. Please don't move him from my route; I enjoy riding his bus.

Today is National Custodian Appreciation Day
Custodians are the backbone of every organization, ensuring employees and customers can safely access sanitized facilities. RTD’s Service and Cleaning teams work day and night to keep our buses, trains, Park-n-Rides, rail stations and office workspaces clean, safe and ready for service.
"I would like to express my appreciation to the Facilities Maintenance custodial team," Manager of Facilities Maintenance Operating Facilities Ron Posey said. "They, along with the Service and Cleaning group, are the unsung heroes that keep us going."
"Without the services those groups provide, we could not make lives better through connections," Posey said. "Keep your heads high and keep on doing a great job!"
RTD is immensely grateful for these unsung heroes who brave the hot summer days and cold winter mornings to ensure RTD is a safe workplace.
