Applications for the NTI Transit Academy are now open

The National Transit Institute (NTI) Transit Academy is a comprehensive, behind-the-scenes study of the nation’s most innovative transit systems, and RTD will serve as host Oct. 26-30!

Academy participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the scope of responsibilities, variety of skills, and range of activities that work in unison within a world-class transit agency to deliver safe, efficient mobility services. The academy features a mix of lectures, discussion roundtables, demonstrations, and facility tours. Attendees will hear and learn directly from experienced transit leaders – key transit agency personnel who serve as academy instructors and facilitators – as they share the successes and challenges of operating a major transit organization. Throughout the week, the host agency becomes a learning laboratory.

Two seats are available for RTD employees to participate in the academy at no cost. The academy is intended for professionals new to the transit industry who would benefit from in-depth exposure to transit expertise and operational and administrative practices, as well as seasoned transit employees who work within a specific function and want to broaden their understanding of how departments and divisions collaborate to support the agency’s mission.

The sessions will take place 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and then 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday. To be eligible to apply, employees must meet the following criteria:

From Wellbeing: Additional Mental Health First Aid training classes are now available

September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, spread hope, take meaningful action, and support open conversations about suicide, recognize warning signs, and connect people to help.

Suicide is one of today’s most urgent mental health challenges, and awareness and education can save lives. That is why RTD is offering adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to all employees.

This skills-based course, led by physical therapist Erica Kruk, teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults. Two additional courses have been made available for RTD employees looking to become certified in MHFA. Each certification is good for three years and comes from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. Manager approval is required for participation, and the $19.95 registration fee can be covered with PDP funds.

By participating, employees gain valuable skills while actively strengthening RTD’s commitment to a safer and more supportive community.
