July 2026

Dear ASID San Diego Chapter Members,

As summer winds down, you might think things are slowing down, but the opposite is true. Our chapter is already buzzing with excitement as President-Elect, Kristy Kropat works alongside her incoming Board of Directors and Strategic Planning Committee to shape an inspiring year ahead. New programs, fresh ideas, and an enthusiastic team are already hard at work creating meaningful opportunities for our members.

As for me, I'm looking forward to continuing the planning of our upcoming Design Gems experiences with Kendra Araujo, as well as our final chapter meetings of the year. And before we know it, Installation on September 30 will be here.

I hope you'll join us as we celebrate an incredible year of accomplishments, recognize our outgoing volunteers for their dedication, and welcome the new leaders who are stepping forward to serve our chapter. It's one of my favorite events of the year—a chance to reconnect with friends, celebrate our profession, and strengthen the community that makes ASID San Diego so special.

I couldn't be more proud of what we've accomplished together. This chapter belongs to all of us, and each member has the opportunity to help shape its future. How will you make ASID San Diego meaningful to you this year?

Best,

Kirsten Recce

President 2025-2026, ASID San Diego Chapter

AUGUST & SEPTEMBER CHAPTER MEETINGS

The Builder's Perspective: What Every Designer Should Know

What does a general contractor wish every designer understood before a project begins?

In the latest episode of Interior Design San Diego, host Rachel Larraine Crawford welcomes Chad Arendsen, owner of COAT Design Remodel, for a thoughtful conversation about the power of collaboration between designers and builders.

As the first general contractor featured on the podcast, Chad shares nearly 30 years of experience building homes, leading design-forward remodels, and creating systems that prioritize communication, trust, and exceptional client experiences.

Together, Rachel and Chad explore how involving the builder early in the design process can help avoid costly surprises, improve project outcomes, and strengthen relationships across the entire project team.
