SEA TO SKY COMMUNITIES LAUNCH ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Starting this month, visitors travelling the Sea-to-Sky Corridor will see signage encouraging locals and visitors to behave more responsibly when enjoying the outdoors and the communities. Signage will be placed in visitor centres, in parks, on trailheads and beaches, using images of the Sea to Sky region with thought-provoking messages reminding residents and visitors to be aware of their impact, and respect the environment using the tagline “Don’t Love it to Death.”
An exponential increase in litter, wildlife conflicts due to human negligence, environmental degradation caused by poor human behaviour, and illegal land use throughout the Sea-to-Sky region has prompted local communities to come together to launch the marketing campaign.

WILDLIFE ALERT: BLACK BEAR IN DOWNTOWN
The District of Squamish and Conservation Officer Service is urging Squamish residents to take extra steps in securing attractants, specifically garbage and dumpsters, to protect the wellbeing of a black bear in the Downtown area. The bear is frequenting Second Avenue, Third Avenue, Fourth Avenue, Stan Clarke Park, Pemberton Avenue and Main Street in search of unsecured attractants on a daily basis.
Once a bear has become food-conditioned and human habituated, there are limited options for its management. A tragic outcome can be avoided if the community does their part.
