Dr. Allen Place, Baltimore Harbor Watchman

In this newsletter, we're highlighting the research of Dr. Allen Place . Place has been spearheading an effort to continuously monitor microscopic organisms in Baltimore's Inner Harbor using a device called a Flow CytoBot. From Graduation to Incorporation Dr. Mary Larkin graduated last November with her Ph.D. from Dr. Allen Place's lab. As a REEF student, she created BlueBlood, LLC, which aims to provide sustainable horseshoe crab blood, which is essential to the biomedical industry (find out how at the link). JJ McDonnell Group Visits IMET The sales and marketing teams of JJ McDonnell and owner Mr. George McManus, our partner of FISH (Feeding Individual to Support Health) project, visited IMET in February. Seafood experts from JJ were happy to see shrimp and bronzini growing in our facility using IMET's sustainable farming systems. Find all the FISH updates here

Analyze DNA of Inner Harbor Plankton with BUGSS In February, IMET's Dr. Eric Schott and Dr. Tsetso Bachvaroff partnered with the Baltimore Underground Science Space to sample plankton in the Inner Harbor.
