Dear disciples of Jesus at Immanuel Lutheran,

Our church year comes to a close this week with Christ the King, or Reign of Christ Sunday. The gospel reading reminds us that Christ is a king unlike any other earthly ruler. His power is not found in might or riches but in words and deeds of compassion and justice. In the end, those who follow him as their merciful ruler are those who care for the poor, the hungry, the naked, the sick, the stranger and the imprisoned. We are invited to make his reign known as we show his love in concrete ways to our neighbors.

Pastor Gretchen
