Almighty and ever-living God, increase in us your gift of faith, that, forsaking what lies behind and reaching out to what lies ahead, we may follow the way of your commandments and receive the crown of everlasting joy, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
President's Message
Dear Immanuel Members,

We continue to progress on our journey to a new Pastor. The Mission and Life Committee is working hard and we anticipate they will complete their work by October 23rd. Then we will begin the Call Process to complete Immanuel’s Ministry Site Profile and begin to interview candidates. Since we may have call process expenses before our next budget is approved in the 2022 Annual Congregational Meeting, per our ILC Constitution, we must have a Special Congregational Meeting/vote to approve the additional costs for 2021. That meeting will take place in the Immanuel sanctuary at 10:30am on October 24, immediately following the 9:30am in-person worship service. Members may attend in person or via Zoom. A link to the Zoom meeting will be sent in the October 22nd Immanuel Weekly Newsletter. We will also be providing an update on the Pastoral Call Process.

Amounts below are estimated based on typical components of call expenses and items we had in 2015 when we called Pastor Gretchen. Many variables effect these amounts and the actual expense could be materially different. At this time, however, we don’t anticipate our actual call expenses to exceed this estimate.
*The cost of moving household goods is the biggest and most variable expense. Time of year, location from which they are moving, distance, and size of household are some of the major variables that could effect the cost. This estimate was obtained from on-line moving cost calculators calculated for moving a 4-bedroom household from Minneapolis to Boise.

If you have questions prior to the meeting, please contact me or Lynn Clark. Otherwise, we can answer any additional questions prior to the vote. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Special Congregational Meeting
A Special Congregation Meeting
of Immanuel Lutheran Church
will take place in-person and via Zoom on
Sunday, October 24, at 10:30am.
(immediately following 9:30am worship).

The purpose of the meeting will be to
update the congregation on the pastoral call process,
and request approval of an addition to the budget
of expected costs of the call process.
A link to the online Zoom meeting option will be sent via email to all members in the week before the meeting. It is an exciting time as we move forward in calling a new pastor. Please join us on October 24!
Mission and Life Update
From all of the members of the Mission and Life Committee, a great big THANK YOU to all of the members and friends of Immanuel who have “Listened In” as a part of the process to call a new pastor. Thank you to all of you who completed the survey, whether online, mail or by dropping a copy of your form in the box in the narthex. Thank you to those of you who participated in the “Listening In” session this past Sunday in the Immanuel courtyard. If you haven’t had a chance yet to participate, we will have one more listening session this coming Sunday, October 10 immediately after church in the courtyard. Your thoughts, opinions, concerns and insights are so important to Immanuel as we move forward in new ways to share God’s gift of love with all.

Baskets Of Gratitude by Bruce Wingate
For the second year the Protect Idaho Kids Foundation are honoring the health care workers who have been working so hard to keep us safe from COVID-19. Donations will help thank our hospital staff for all their service. See below for details. To donate please click here:
Baskets of Gratitude
To honor the healthcare workers who are working exhaustively and putting their lives on the line to give medical care to those suffering from COVID-19, Protect Idaho Kids Foundation (PIK) will once again sponsor a Baskets of Gratitude program. Here is how it would work. On Sunday, December 12th, and Monday, December 13th, 2021, people will drop off Baskets of Gratitude at the parking lot of the Boise Train Depot.

The baskets will be filled with crackers, candy, fruits, drinks and other treats, and cards or messages of thanks to the healthcare workers. Protect Idaho Kids Foundation volunteers will receive the baskets from 2pm – 6pm each day and store them in a truck provided by DeMeyer Furniture. Last year Star Wars Legionnaires helped in the presentation and will do so again this year.

To acknowledge their efforts, on Tuesday December 14, 2021, Protect Idaho Kids volunteers will deliver the baskets to St. Luke’s, St. Alphonsus, the Veteran’s home and hospital, and the Elk’s hospital along with giant 24 X 36 inch appreciation cards that will hopefully include messages provided by the mayor and the governor.

More than delivering food, the main purpose of the project will be to deliver a message of appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff that are doing such a phenomenal job fighting the pandemic.

With the continued presence of Covid-19 we will take the temperature of everyone volunteering to help with the program, ask all participants to wear masks, and adhere to social distancing with 6 feet of separation. The program has been approved by Central Health.
