MELGES 20 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP APPROACHING
Melges World League enters a critical stage in the season
With the
Melges 20 World Championship
in Newport, Rhode Island quickly approaching, sailors are taking a close look at the Melges 20 World League rankings.
The Melges World League is the official, international circuit of the Melges 20 fleet.
It all started in February at the Miami Winter Series. Twelve events scattered across Europe, Asia and North America, featuring 85 teams representing 17 nations has defined the ranking thus far. Igor Rytov’s
RUSSIAN BOGATYRS
is proving with each passing event that his team is the strongest in the overall standings.
Worldwide however, the match remains wide open with four final events left to complete —
Worlds
in Newport, Hayama, Zushi (both in Japan) and the opening act of the
2017-18 Miami Winter Series
. With potentially 80 points still to be awarded on the international circuit, Rytov’s leadership is anything but secure.
The Corinthian standings are as equally contested. Emanuele Savoini’s

leads the division. Jay Golison’s
MIDLIFE CRISIS
and John Brown’s

follow in second and third.

KUZNETSOV CROWNED MELGES 32 WORLD CHAMPION
For four days straight, Russia's Pavel Kuznetsov and tactician Evgeny Neugodnikov, with TAVATUY crew members Konstantin Besputin, Egor Koniukhovskii, Oleg Krivov, Alexander Patrushev, Anton Sergeev, and Valeriy Zatsarinskiy declared that the 2017 Melges 32 Boero World Championship belonged to them. Without debate, their performance was one of strength, consistency and no fear. Today, for what seems like an ever-elusive dream to some, is a reality for Kuznetsov – He and his team are Melges 32 World Champions.
"After four years of great sailing and so much fun in the Melges 32 Class, we can raise above us the most beautiful and important trophy of our entire career," said Kuznetsov post racing. "The team did a great job, and I am so proud to be bringing this accomplishment, for the first time to Russia, a country that deeply loves to sail. We just want to celebrate this huge success."

has been a huge success – New fleets are popping up all across the country.
The Melges 14 is a perfect beach boat, family-style sailboat or one-design racing platform. Many are finding that the Melges 14 is a great cross-trainer for improving performance in their other racing classes.
2017 has seen a number of successful regattas for the Melges 14 fleet so far. The fleet has come together for racing in Norfolk, VA, Sarasota, FL, Lake Geneva, WI, Grosse Pointe, MI, Culver, IN, San Francisco, CA, and more.
The
US Sailing Olympic Development Program (ODP) has arrived in Lake Geneva to train the Midwest's best junior sailors in the Melges 14. Follow the

September delivers great seasonal wind to this freshwater venue between the Midwest and the Atlantic seaboard. After each day of racing on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, the fleet will be treated to fine dining and entertainment in Toronto's metropolis.
TIGHT COMPETITION IN THE MELGES 24 EUROPEAN SAILING SERIES
Hungarian FGF Sailing Team wins Medemblik
Five events of the 2017 Melges 24 European Sailing Series have been held so far, and the series' finale is approaching. 88 teams from 18 nations, including 55 Corinthian teams, have been racking up points.
Hungarian FGF SAILING TEAM of Domonkos Rozsnyay with Robert Bakoczy helming won the penultimate event in Medemblik last weekend and were crowned as the Dutch Melges 24 Champions 2017 with a solid margin ahead of Dutch TEAM KESBEKE/SIKA/GILL securing second place and GILL RACE TEAM (GBR) rounding out the podium in third.
The Melges 24 European Sailing Series will come to an end in Luino, Italy in October with the 14th edition of the
Lino Favini Cup
, also considered the Melges 24 Swiss Open Championship and the 4th Act of Melges 24 Italian Series 2017.
