Greetings from Interim Dean Normand Labrie
Welcome and welcome back to OISE! It is an exciting moment for all of us as we step forward into a new term and a new moment after almost two and a half years of mostly remote work!
This coming week we will host student orientation events that give us an opportunity to get acquainted and reacquainted with the people and place we call OISE. I look forward to being together and to the year ahead!

As an OISE student, you will automatically receive an email invitation to participate in the OISE Mentorship Program every September.
It is an international mentorship program and some mentors participate from around the world. Before signing up, please consider your availability over your Fall and Winter terms. Applicants must commit to six online or in-person meetings with their mentor — signing up is a commitment!
Once signed up, you will be invited to an interactive launch event in late September and instructed to connect with your mentor on agreed terms.
Program features for students in 2022-2023
- Match with an alum in your field
- Meet once a month from October to March
- Discuss shared interests, industry trends, career and academic experiences
- Join us at exclusive events, including a virtual launch party and skills workshops
While your mentorship journey is self-directed, we're always here to provide support. Just send us an email.

Welcome (back) to the OISE Library!
Welcome, or welcome back, to the OISE Library! The OISE Library team is looking forward to meeting and working with you this fall, whether you drop by in person or visit us online.
If you’re new to the Library, you’ll find the key information you need to get started in the OISE Library Orientation site.
Whether you’re new or returning, we hope you’ll join us for a drop-in tour of the Library in September. Look for library tour posters at OISE, on Twitter (@OISELibrary), and on Instagram (@oise.library). New students can join the OISE Library Virtual Escape Room for a fun way to learn about the Library and for a chance to win one of three $25 Starbucks gift cards. Looking for library research support? Please email us (oise.library@utoronto.ca), join us via Ask Chat, drop by during our Virtual Reference Hours, or book an appointment to meet with an OISE librarian virtually, in person, or by phone. Interested in helping to shape and improve OISE Library programs and services? Please consider joining the OISE Library Student Advisory Committee. The deadline to apply is October 14th, 2022.

Staff Were Together Again!
OISE staff came together on Wednesday August 24th for a terrific Welcome Back Mixer to meet one another and get oriented to the building in preparation for OISE Student Orientations.
It was a fabulous event with over 90+ staff in attendance enjoying lunch, ice cream and fabulous SWAG!
It was a special opportunity for everyone to once again be together in person but particularly important for those hired during the pandemic who had almost never stepped foot in the OISE buildings.
Thanks to all the organizers for the great event!
