December 2025

A Letter from the Athletic Director

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us in Saints Athletics! This is truly a special time of year as we celebrate our faith with family and friends. We hope that everyone enjoys a safe, joyful, and meaningful holiday season filled with peace, gratitude, and reflection.

As we move into the heart of winter, our winter sports season has officially kicked off, and it is already shaping up to be another competitive and exciting year for Saints Athletics. Our teams have been working tirelessly in practices, weight rooms, and classrooms, demonstrating pride in representing St. Thomas Aquinas High School. As always, our primary goal remains the development of our student-athletes, physically, mentally, spiritually, and academically—while staying true to our school’s mission and values.

With the days getting shorter and the temperatures getting colder, don’t get stuck at home. We encourage our Saints community to come out and support our teams. Your presence at games and events makes a tremendous difference and means more to our student-athletes than you may realize. They are working hard every day to make our school and community proud.

In this newsletter, you’ll find some exciting updates, including highlights of football success, recognition of teams doing amazing things, and interesting news about our alumni continuing to make an impact beyond STA.

Thank you once again for your continued support of Saints Athletics. Enjoy the holidays, cherish time with loved ones, and please keep in your prayers those who may be in need during this season.

Go Saints!

At the Dover Select Board meeting on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Mayor Bob Carrier honored the St. Thomas Aquinas Field Hockey and Boys' Soccer teams for their outstanding achievement as 2025 Fall State Champions. The Select Board recognized the team's dedication, skill, and perseverance throughout their championship season. Mayor Carrier presented the team with a proclamation, acknowledging their hard work and success. The ceremony highlighted the team's accomplishments and celebrated their contribution to Dover's sports community.

Boys' Basketball Christmas Donation

The fourth annual St. Thomas Aquinas High School Boys' Basketball Christmas Donation has just been completed, continuing a wonderful Saints tradition of giving back during the holiday season. The donation jar was set out at Monday’s December 15th triple-header versus Somersworth High School, and the response from our community was outstanding.

As part of this effort, our boys’ basketball players were asked to give up a day of their favorite treats (Dunkin Donuts, Aroma Joe’s, Starbucks, etc.) and instead donate that money to help families in need. In addition, generous donations were collected from families and fans at the door throughout the evening.

All funds raised were donated to a local church in the form of grocery gift cards, which will be distributed to families in need of help to provide food during Christmas. This simple, but powerful act reflects the values we strive to instill in our student-athletes: compassion, sacrifice, and service to others.

We are extremely proud of our players for embracing this tradition and understanding that being a Saint is about more than what happens on the court. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who contributed, players, families, fans, and supporters. Your generosity truly makes a difference in our community.

Kensley Harris STA Class of 2025 Alum in NCAA National Championship Field Hockey Game

Freshman Goalie Kensley Harris and her Newberry College Field Hockey Team lost in the NCAA D2 National Championship game 3-2 in OT. We asked the former Saint (Class of 2025) a few questions about this incredible Journey.

First, the team qualified for the NCAA Tournament with a South Atlantic Conference Title, 3-0 over Lander University. Then they beat Bentley University 4-1 and UPENN Westchester 3-0 in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Shippensburg University 3-2 in National Championship in OT.

1. What was it like to wake up the morning of the national championship game and anticipation?

"It was a bit surreal. This was a game we had been working towards and fighting to reach for almost 4 months, not including the work the returning girls put in during the spring, and suddenly, it was no longer sometime in the future, but in a few hours. It was definitely nerve-wracking, and you could tell it wasn’t just a typical game day. I personally don’t tend to get nervous until right before game time, but when I woke up, even I was anxious for the game to start."

2. Being a part of this team, what will you miss the most?

"I am definitely going to miss all of the seniors. We had a phenomenal group this year, and they played a big role in that. With the level of competition that they brought to all the games, our practices, and the community that they built for us, they shaped this program long before I got there, and I am going to miss them so much in the spring and next season."

3. As a kid, you dream about the NCAA tournament, tell us what it was like going through this journey.

"Being able to go all the way to the National Championship was one of the best experiences I could have ever asked for, especially to be able to do it as a freshman. Again, it felt a bit surreal at times, but I could not have asked for a better group of girls or a better coaching staff to go on the journey with. The amount of support we got as students and athletes both on and off the field from each other, the coaches, our friends, the town, and the faculty at Newberry helped us all so much and we couldn’t have made it that far without that support."

4. Was there a different sense of pride being there and representing a small state like New Hampshire?

"Yes, there was a different sense of pride being there. The majority of the girls in the championship tournament were from the Mid-Atlantic states, which are typically considered the “better” field hockey states and where the best players come from, and there were also a good amount of international players. So, for the two other New Hampshire girls and I, it definitely meant something that we were able to represent such a small and often overlooked state."

5. What would you say or advice you would give to a young STA student who has the same goal you do?

"I would say to surround yourself with people who have the same or very similar goals to you and people who understand what you want and why it means so much. The support and understanding completely makes a much bigger difference than a lot of people expect. It makes missing that birthday party or Friday night football game for a practice that much easier. My second piece of advice is to do the work. You’re going to have to go to practice and to workouts and to games when you don’t want to or don’t feel like it, but you have to put in the work to get the results you want."

St. Thomas Alum Taig Healy in NCAA D1 Men’s Soccer National Championship Game

Taig Healy led the NC State Wolfpack to the Men’s NCAA D1 National Championship game this past month. The Wolfpack, out of the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) lost 3-2 in OT. Taig had a terrific goal to tie the game at 2-2 with 3 minutes remaining in the game.

The former Saint (Class of 2022) was dominate all year and turned it up a notch in the tournament. In the National Semi-Finals vs St. Louis, Taig scored the winning goal! He also scored goals in the previous two NCAA tournament games against Georgetown and UNC Greensboro.

Taig played his first two years at UNH before transferring to NC State when his coach Marc Hubbard left UNH to coach NC State.

Here are the NCAA Men’s D1 Tournament results for the 16-3-4 Wolfpack:

NC State 2 vs UNC Greensboro 0 NCAA Tournament

NC State 3 vs Georgetown 2 National Quarterfinals

NC State 2 vs St Louis 1 National Semi-Finals

Washington 3 vs NC State 2 OT National Championship

Fall All-State

Congratulations to our Football All-State Selections as determined by the coaches' association.
