A Letter from the Athletic Director

We are excited to kick off the new year with some fantastic achievements from our winter sports teams!

Over the holiday break, our Girls Basketball team had an impressive run at the Oyster River Christmas Tournament. The Saints defeated D1 Spaulding and Keene, then capped off their championship performance with a victory over host team Oyster River in the finals. Congratulations to the entire team on this incredible accomplishment!

Our Boys Basketball and Hockey teams also showed how good and competitive they are at the Oyster River tournament, demonstrating their hard work and dedication on the court and ice. While they may not have taken home the championship, they certainly made their presence known and set the stage for the rest of the season.

As we move into the new year, our athletes continue to shine in Indoor Track, Skiing, and Swimming. We've seen some outstanding performances, and we encourage everyone to check out the results and updates online.

Winter sports have been competitive, and as we approach February and the playoff season, the excitement is only building. We invite all our fans and families to come out and support our athletes as they give it their all, representing St. Thomas Aquinas with pride.

Let’s keep up the momentum and make this winter season one to remember.

Go Saints and God Bless!

Congratulations Girls Basketball - 2024 Oyster River Holiday Tournament Champions!

St. Thomas Aquinas beat host Oyster River 61-48 to win the Christmas Tournament hosted by Oyster River. In the first round, the Saints defeated D1 Spaulding then in the Semi-Finals they went on to defeat D1 Keene HS which earned them an appearance against their D2 neighbors from Durham.

The Tournament MVP was junior Emma Toriello. Also earning honors was All-Tournament selection senior Genna Bolduc.

Congrats to the coaches and team for this wonderful accomplishment and hard work during the break.

SAINTS PRIDE!!

St. Thomas Aquinas New Football Coach!

St. Thomas Aquinas High School is excited to announce Scott Bray as its new Varsity Football Head Coach. With decades of experience in coaching, Bray is the ideal candidate to lead the Saints into a new chapter of success. His most recent role as Pass Game Coordinator and Secondary Coach at Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, NH, saw him help transition a traditionally run-heavy offense into a more dynamic passing game, all while strengthening the team’s defense.

Bray’s coaching career also includes a highly successful 15-year tenure as Head Football Coach at Bridgewater-Raritan High School in New Jersey. There, he guided the team to 10 state playoff appearances and multiple state championship game berths. Additionally, Bray has coached at the collegiate level and has a diverse background in other sports, including leading the girls’ basketball team to its second-ever sectional final appearance.

A graduate of Lycoming College with a B.A. in Business Administration, Bray is also a social studies teacher at Sacred Heart School in Hampton and serves as the Athletic Director at Camp Winaukee. Bray expressed excitement about continuing the legacy of excellence at St. Thomas Aquinas, saying, “I am honored to take over as Head Coach at St. Thomas Aquinas; a program that has a rich history and tradition. I look forward to working with the student-athletes and their families, raising the bar on what it is to be a Saint football player.”

Athletic Director David Morissette shared his enthusiasm, stating, “We are excited to welcome Scott Bray to the St. Thomas Aquinas community. Coach Bray not only understands our tradition, but he is also eager to build upon it while continuing to develop and discipline our students in line with our mission. We are all eager to see him get started and make a positive impact here at STA.”

Winter Sports Season Updates

Girls Basketball: 10-0 The girls are dominating the competition this season, with a perfect 10-0 record so far! With every game, they continue to show their strength, teamwork, and determination. After their season ended earlier than desired last year, they’ve been working tirelessly to make sure this year ends with a championship. They’re locked in, focused, and poised to finish strong as they head into the postseason. The best is yet to come!

Boys Basketball: 8-2 The boys are putting in the work to make a strong return to the championship after a stellar 2023-2024 season! While the competition in D3 boys basketball has ramped up, the team holds a solid 8-2 record and continues to grow. With a fresh look this year, featuring 8 freshmen and sophomores, the players are bringing energy and determination. The goal is clear—go back-to-back and make this season even better than the last!

Girls Hockey: 4-5 The girls hockey team may have a 4-5 record, but don’t let that fool you—they’ve shown incredible growth as the season has progressed. With each game, they’ve become more cohesive and resilient. While their record doesn’t fully reflect their potential, they have the skill and determination to make a deep run in the postseason. The best is yet to come for this talented squad!

Boys Hockey: 8-1 The boys hockey team is a completely different squad from the one that didn’t make the playoffs last year. Under the leadership of new co-head coaches Perry and Chris Plummer, this group of young men has built a strong team culture that shines both on and off the ice. With an impressive 8-1 record, their only loss came at the hands of Oyster River, the defending champion from the 2023-2024 season. Coming off a strong win against D1 Nashua South, the team is heading into a series of competitive games before the postseason, ready to make a deep run.

Skiing: The ski team has been absolutely tearing up the slopes this season, posting some incredible times at their meets! With strong momentum heading into the postseason, they’re aiming to finish with some personal bests! The girls will hit the slopes at Gunstock on Monday, February 10th, followed by the boys on Tuesday, February 11th, also at Gunstock. It’s shaping up to be an exciting and competitive State Meet, and the team is ready to give it their all!

Indoor Track: Indoor track has been on a roll this season, breaking numerous STA records and personal bests! The athletes have been pushing their limits and showing incredible growth. With a strong season almost behind them, they’re looking forward to making an impact at the State Meet at Plymouth State University on February 9th. It’s shaping up to be an exciting finish to a standout season!

Swimming & Diving: The swim team just wrapped up their regular season with a historic moment, hosting their first meet in many years! Co-hosting with Dover High, they held the "Garrison City Invitational" at Phillips Exeter Academy. It’s been a stellar year, with the team finishing the regular season with 47 state cuts!

Three swimmers—Morgan Batchelder '26, Peter Latsilnik '26, and Dylan Nichols '28—have qualified for every event possible in the state meet, showcasing their versatility and skill. Skylar Knowlton '25 has been nothing short of amazing this season. After winning the 500 FR, she remains undefeated in every event she’s swum during in-season meets throughout her four years at STA—a remarkable feat!

The Lady Saints are ranked in the top 6 in the state in every event, while the Gentlemen Saints are ranked in the top 6 in 10 out of 11 events. That’s 21 out of 22 events with a Saint in the top 6—talk about dominance!

With the state meet ahead, the Saints are ready to finish strong and make their mark.
