June 2026

As we close the 2025-2026 school year, I find myself reflecting on what has truly been a remarkable spring season and an outstanding year for St. Thomas Aquinas Athletics. In this edition, we celebrate four state spring championships, recognize our All-State selections, and look back on another memorable year of Saints Athletics (This will be the last Newsletter until the Fall).

At St. Thomas Aquinas, we often talk about our philosophy of "Developing and Disciplining Within Our Mission." This philosophy extends far beyond wins and losses. It is about building young men and women of character who represent our school, community, and faith with pride and integrity. While we are not always perfect, our goal is to strive for excellence in everything we do.

One example that perfectly captured who we are as a program came during the NHIAA Division II Baseball State Championship at Delta Dental Stadium. Led by Coach Eric Wells, our Saints found themselves trailing 8-0 in the first inning. Many teams would have folded under that pressure, but not this group. They battled back, showed tremendous resilience, and eventually took the lead before falling in heartbreaking fashion, 10-9, in the bottom of the seventh inning.

What impressed me most was not the comeback itself, but how our players handled such an excruciating loss. They displayed class, sportsmanship, and grace with their heads held high. Several colleagues from around the state reached out afterward to comment on the character and composure of our student athletes. Those moments remind us that success is measured by much more than championships.

When our teams represent St. Thomas Aquinas in that manner, whether in victory or defeat, we are truly winning.

Thank you to our student athletes, coaches, families, faculty, and supporters for another incredible year. I could not be prouder of what we have accomplished together.

Saints Pride!

God Bless,

David Morissette – Director of Athletics

Boys Tennis Captures Three State Championships

The St. Thomas Aquinas Boys Tennis team put together one of the most impressive seasons in program history, capturing three state championships this spring under the leadership of Head Coach Adam Molda.

The Saints first brought the NHIAA Division III Team Championship back to Saints Nation for the first time since 2019, defeating Profile 6-3 in the state championship match at Concord's Memorial Field Complex. Prior to the finals, St. Thomas earned a convincing 7-2 victory over Gilford in the semifinals.

The team finished undefeated 16-0 on the season. As every great coach will tell you, the best teams are playing their best tennis at the end of the season, and that is exactly what this group accomplished.

Beyond their success on the court, this team exemplified everything that makes St. Thomas Aquinas special. They were a close-knit group that competed for one another, supported one another, and represented our school with tremendous class and sportsmanship throughout the season.

The individual postseason proved just as successful. Alex Molda and Aaron Molda qualified for the NHIAA Individual Singles Tournament. Entering as the defending state champion and the tournament's top seed, Alex once again demonstrated his dominance by advancing through the field and capturing his second consecutive Individual Singles Championship. In a rematch of last year's final, Alex defeated Bedford's top player in straight sets to claim the title.

The success continued in the Individual Doubles Tournament, where St. Thomas qualified two teams: Alex Molda and Aaron Molda as the tournament's top seed, along with Ben Puertas and Nick Adams. The Molda brothers once again rose to the occasion, defeating Londonderry in straight sets to secure the Doubles State Championship.

For Alex Molda, the victory completed a remarkable Triple Crown season, winning the Team Championship, Individual Singles Championship, and Individual Doubles Championship all in the same year.

Congratulations to Coach Adam Molda, the coaching staff, and the entire Boys Tennis program on an extraordinary season.

Job well done, Saints!

Girls Lacrosse Captures Third Straight State Championship

The St. Thomas Aquinas Girls Lacrosse team completed another historic season by capturing its third consecutive NHIAA Division III State Championship with an impressive 18-8 victory over Bow High School at Bedford High School Stadium and finished the season 18-2.

The championship victory was especially meaningful as it avenged a heartbreaking 12-11 overtime loss to Bow during the regular season. For the senior class, the win brought their journey full circle. As freshmen, they experienced the disappointment of falling to Bow in the state championship game. Four years later, they leave the program as three-time state champions, cementing their place among the most successful classes in school history.

Led by co-head coaches Jen Carroll and Jill Carroll, the Saints put together a dominant postseason run in their final season competing in Division III before moving to Division II next year. St. Thomas opened the tournament with a 21-4 victory over Milford in the preliminary round, followed by a 20-7 win over Coe-Brown in the quarterfinals. The Saints then defeated a talented Hopkinton squad 15-12 in the semifinals before their commanding championship performance against Bow.

Throughout the season, the Saints showcased tremendous skill, determination, and teamwork. More importantly, they represented St. Thomas Aquinas with class, sportsmanship, and pride both on and off the field.

Congratulations to Coach Jen Carroll, Coach Jill Carroll, and the entire Girls Lacrosse program on an incredible season and a remarkable championship run.

Baseball Makes Remarkable Run to

State Championship Game

If you had asked many people before the season what they expected from the St. Thomas Aquinas Baseball team, most would have predicted a rebuilding year. With first-year Head Coach Eric Wells at the helm and a roster filled with young talent, expectations from outside the program were modest at best.

The Saints had other plans.

Refusing to listen to preseason predictions, this resilient group put together one of the most memorable seasons in recent program history, finishing with an outstanding 18-6 record and advancing all the way to the NHIAA Division II State Championship Game at Delta Dental Stadium.

The postseason run was nothing short of impressive. St. Thomas opened tournament play with a 13-3 victory over Lebanon in the preliminary round. The Saints followed that with a dominant 11-0 shutout of Oyster River in the quarterfinals before defeating Souhegan 7-3 in the semifinals to punch their ticket to the championship game.

In the finals against Kingswood, the Saints faced early adversity, falling behind 8-0 in the first inning. Many teams would have folded under that pressure, but this group never stopped believing. Showing the determination and grit that defined their season, St. Thomas battled all the way back and eventually took a 9-8 lead before Kingswood scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a heartbreaking 10-9 victory.

While the outcome was not what the Saints had hoped for, the character, resilience, and fight displayed throughout the season, and especially in the championship game, made the entire St. Thomas community proud.

Coach Wells and great coaching staff, have built a strong foundation for the future. If this season was any indication, Saints baseball will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

Congratulations to Coach Wells and the entire Baseball program on a tremendous season!

Softball Ends Great Season in Semi-Final Heartbreaker

After graduating a talented group of seniors from last year's state championship team, there were questions about what the St. Thomas Aquinas Softball team could accomplish in 2026. As they have done so often, the Saints answered those questions with another remarkable season.

The defending state champions finished the regular season with an impressive 13-3 record and once again proved they belonged among the elite programs in Division III.

The postseason began with a thrilling preliminary round matchup against Berlin. In a game that showcased the heart and determination of the Saints, St. Thomas earned a dramatic 6-5 walk-off victory after being down 5-2 to start the inning to advance to the quarterfinals. The momentum continued as the Saints defeated Monadnock 8-3, securing a spot in the Final Four.

That victory set up a semifinal showdown at Plymouth State University between fourth-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas and top-seeded Gilford. In what turned out to be one of the most competitive games of the tournament, both teams battled throughout a tense pitchers' duel. Despite a tremendous effort, the Saints came up just short, falling 1-0 in a game that could have gone either way.

The loss ended an outstanding season with a final record of 15-4. More importantly, it highlighted the resilience, competitiveness, and championship culture that continues to define the St. Thomas Aquinas Softball program.

The future remains incredibly bright for the Saints. With all but one senior returning next season, the experience gained during this year's postseason run will serve as a strong foundation moving forward.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, and families on a tremendous season. Your hard work, dedication, and representation of St. Thomas Aquinas made the entire Saints community proud. We look forward to watching what promises to be another exciting chapter for Saints Softball next spring.

Boys Lacrosse Builds Strong Foundation

Under New Leadership

The St. Thomas Aquinas Boys Lacrosse program entered a new era this spring under the leadership of first-year Head Coach Dan De Tolla. While transitions can often bring challenges, the Saints embraced the opportunity and delivered a successful season that highlighted the bright future of the program.

Led by a young and talented roster, St. Thomas finished the regular season with an impressive 10-6 record and earned the No. 5 seed in the highly competitive NHIAA Division II Tournament. Throughout the season, the Saints displayed tremendous growth, resilience, and a commitment to improving each time they stepped onto the field.

Their strong regular-season performance earned them a first-round bye and a quarterfinal matchup with No. 4 seed Oyster River. In a hard-fought and spirited contest, the Saints battled until the final whistle but ultimately fell 8-4 to the Bobcats, finishing the season with an overall record of 10-7.

While the season ended sooner than the team had hoped, there is much to celebrate. Coach De Tolla and his staff established a strong culture built on hard work, accountability, and team-first values. The growth shown throughout the season was evident, and the experience gained by the team's younger players will be invaluable moving forward.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this season is what lies ahead. With a talented core of young athletes returning and strong leadership guiding the program, the future of St. Thomas Aquinas Boys Lacrosse is extremely promising.

Congratulations to Coach De Tolla, his staff, and the entire team on a successful season. Thank you for representing St. Thomas Aquinas with pride, determination, and sportsmanship.

Girls Tennis Finishes Season in Quarterfinals

The St. Thomas Aquinas Girls Tennis team may have been one of the youngest teams in Division III this spring, but they proved all season long that determination, perseverance, and teamwork can take a team a long way.

Led by Head Coach Jessica Cummings, the Saints entered the season with only two seniors on the roster and faced the challenge of competing against more experienced teams throughout the year. Despite their youth, the Saints never backed down from a challenge and battled hard in every match, earning a 6-8 regular-season record and the No. 11 seed in the NHIAA Division III Tournament.

The team's resilience was on full display in the opening round of the tournament. Facing No. 5 seed Prospect Mountain on the road, the Saints pulled off one of the tournament's biggest upsets with a thrilling 5-4 victory. The win was a testament to the team's grit, determination, and belief in one another.

The postseason run came to an end in the quarterfinals against a talented Gilford team, but not before the Saints showed the heart and competitiveness that defined their season. St. Thomas finished the year with a strong 7-9 overall record and gained valuable experience that will serve the program well moving forward.

Individually, senior Irina Steinberg represented the Saints at the NHIAA Individual Singles Tournament, a tremendous accomplishment and recognition of her hard work and dedication throughout her career.

This team was a perfect example of what can happen when athletes refuse to give up and continue to compete regardless of the circumstances. Their effort, sportsmanship, and commitment to one another made the entire St. Thomas community proud.

Congratulations to Coach Cummings, Irina Steinberg, and the entire Girls Tennis program on a tremendous season. The future is bright for Saints Tennis!

Track & Field Finishes Solid Season

The St. Thomas Aquinas Track & Field program enjoyed another outstanding spring season, highlighted by impressive team finishes, school records, and numerous athletes advancing to the NHIAA Meet of Champions.

Under the leadership of Coach John Rolleri and his coaching staff, the Saints continued to demonstrate the hard work, dedication, and commitment that have become trademarks of the program. Competing against some of the best teams in Division III, the boys team finished an impressive 4th place out of 26 teams, while the girls team placed 11th out of 29 teams at the NHIAA Division III State Championships.

The season was filled with personal bests, strong performances, and memorable moments. Several Saints athletes earned the opportunity to compete at the prestigious Meet of Champions held at Oyster River High School, showcasing their talents against the top athletes from across New Hampshire.

Meet of Champions qualifiers included:

  • Maia Scanlon '26 – 400 Meter
  • Claire Harris '27 – 800 Meter
  • Mallory Baker '27 – 300 Meter Hurdles
  • Girls 4x400 Meter Relay Team
  • Aaron Hughes '26 – 400 Meter
  • Breyden Sanchez '26 – Long Jump

One of the highlights of the season came from Breyden Sanchez, who not only qualified for the Meet of Champions but also broke the St. Thomas Aquinas school record in the Long Jump, an incredible accomplishment and testament to his hard work and dedication.

The success of this year's team was built on countless hours of training, determination, and a commitment to improvement. Whether competing at the state meet, qualifying for the Meet of Champions, or setting personal records, the athletes consistently represented St. Thomas Aquinas with pride and sportsmanship.

Congratulations to the Coaching staff, and the entire Track & Field program on a tremendous season. Your hard work paid off, and the entire Saints community is proud of your accomplishments.

Job well done!
