March 2026

A Letter from the Athletic Director

We have wrapped up another outstanding winter season here at St. Thomas Aquinas. In last month’s edition, we recognized the accomplishments of our swimming, indoor track, and skiing teams. In this March edition, we close out the winter season by celebrating our remaining four programs and will also be announcing our All-State selections.

Once again, our hockey and basketball teams did not disappoint. They represented everything we stand for at STA, competing at a high level and finishing among the top teams in their divisions. As an Athletic Director, I could not be prouder of the commitment our student-athletes and coaches show every day to “Develop & Discipline within our mission.”

While every team/coach hopes to hoist a championship trophy at the end of the season, the true measure of success is how our teams conduct themselves each day, on the court, on the ice, in the classroom, and in the community. By that standard, these teams are champions. Their effort, sportsmanship, and pride in representing STA make our entire school community proud.

Job well done to all!

Now, we turn our attention to what promises to be an exciting spring season, whenever the snow finally melts.

God Bless - Saints Pride!

David Morissette – Director of Athletics

Boys' Hockey Finished in State Semi-Finals

The St. Thomas Aquinas Boys' Hockey team put together an outstanding season, finishing second in the Division II standings with a 14-4 regular season record. The Saints carried that success into the postseason, earning a first-round playoff win before falling in a tightly contested 3-2 semifinal game to Oyster River, ending the year at 15-5 overall.

Co-head coaches Perry and Chris Plummer have done a remarkable job leading the program, keeping the Saints among the top teams in Division II and building a culture of consistency and competitiveness.

This season also showcased the team’s ability to compete at a higher level. The Saints faced Division I competition, falling to eventual champion Bishop Guertin, while earning impressive wins over Keene (1-0) and Nashua (3-0).

With continued growth and a strong foundation, St. Thomas Aquinas will transition to Division I next season and looks forward to the challenge ahead.

Girls' Hockey Finishes Another Great Year

“Coach Hendrickson Steps Down”

The St. Thomas Aquinas Girls' Hockey team delivered one of its strongest seasons to date, finishing the regular season with an impressive 11-5-2 record and earning a first-round bye in the NHIAA Division I tournament. A true co-op program with student-athletes from St. Thomas Aquinas, Winnacunnet, and Dover High School, the team showed great chemistry, resilience, and competitiveness throughout the winter.

The Saints’ season came to a close in the quarterfinals with a 4-1 loss to a tough Bishop Brady/Bow/Trinity squad, finishing the year at 11-6-2 overall. Despite the early playoff exit, the season was a clear success and a reflection of the team’s growth and commitment.

Head Coach Maria Hendrickson has led the program to back-to-back outstanding seasons and has done a tremendous job building a strong culture. She has announced she will be stepping down for family reasons. We thank Coach Hendrickson for her dedication and leadership, job well done.

Girls' Basketball Season - Another Solid Year

The St. Thomas Aquinas Girls' Basketball team put together an outstanding season, finishing the regular season 14-2 and earning a first-round bye in the state tournament. It was an impressive debut for first-year head coach Zach Snow, as the Saints quickly established themselves as one of the top teams in the league.

The season came to a close in the quarterfinals with a tough home loss to Monadnock, finishing 14-3, but the year was highlighted by strong leadership and continued growth from a talented, young roster. The Saints were led by senior standouts Emma Toriello, the Division III Player of the Year, along with Ava Malloy and Sophie Malloy, who all played key roles in the team’s success.

With a solid foundation and promising underclassmen returning, the future looks bright for the Saints. St. Thomas Aquinas will move to Division II next season and looks forward to the challenge ahead.

Boys' Basketball Wraps Up Another Successful Season

The St. Thomas Aquinas Boys' Basketball team wrapped up another strong season, finishing 13-3 in the regular season and once again competing among the top teams in the league. The Saints hosted Newfound in the opening round of the state tournament and delivered an exciting win in front of a packed home crowd.

Their season came to a close in the quarterfinals with a hard-fought game against Hopkinton, finishing with an impressive 14-4 overall record. This year’s team was led by senior captains Brady Livas and Joe Mollica, who capped off outstanding careers while guiding a young roster with leadership, toughness, and consistency throughout the season.

As the Saints say goodbye to their seniors, they look ahead with optimism. With a talented core returning, St. Thomas Aquinas is set to transition into Division II next year and is eager to embrace the new challenge and continue building on its success.
