Inside Scoop

Bringing You the Latest Tools to Help Your Business

Summer may be over but there's work still to do!

You made it through another summer season. Now is the time to review the data you collected throughout the summer and use it to evaluate Summer 2024 and plan for Summer 2025.

Look at your sales.

What were your busiest and slowest days? What was your staffing and hours on those days? Did you run any specials or promotions that may have contributed to those sales?

Create a chart or other record of all this information now so you’ll have it when you start to plan for Summer 2025.

Speaking of sales, look at your pre-season cash flow projections.

How did your projections look versus your actuals? What adjustments do you need to make for the rest of the year? What changes will you make when you project 2025 cash flow?

Not sure what a cash flow projection is? Make an appointment with the CDP to learn more.

What is your inventory situation?

Do you know what you have for “summer” stock? Does it make sense to clear it out now? How will you do that? Look at what sold and what didn’t.

Add this information to your Summer 2024 chart of information to inform your buying decisions in 2025.

Did you collect emails from customers? Did you gain followers on social media?

How are you going to capture that customer data? Do you have a mailing list? If you haven’t been updating it throughout the season, do it now. Consider sending a thank you email or post to your followers, offering a small discount on any end-of-the season purchases. Be sure to email and/or post about updated hours or other information your customers will find helpful.

Have questions or need help with any of these suggestions? Make an in-person or virtual appointment with Pam Andersen and Tricia Murray at the CDP.
