Student Affairs Staff Updates

Staff Updates

New Beginnings

We’re excited to welcome and celebrate the newest members of our Student Affairs team and those who have recently changed positions!

Join us in spotlighting our Student Affairs colleagues and congratulate them the next time you see them on campus.

April is a time to recognize and celebrate culture, awareness, and sustainability. ACC honors Arab American Heritage Month by highlighting the rich culture and contributions of Arab Americans, recognizes Autism Acceptance Month by encouraging a more inclusive and accepting environment for people on the autism spectrum, and celebrates Earth Week (April 22–26) by promoting mindful, sustainable actions to care for our planet.

Throughout April, ACC will host events and share resources to recognize Arab American Heritage Month, Autism Acceptance Month, and Earth Week. These offerings will highlight cultural contributions, promote awareness, and encourage sustainable practices.

Professional Development

“Mattering is the belief that we’re significant to the world around us. Psychologists and sociologists find that mattering arises from two primary experiences: 1. Feeling valued by those around us, and 2. Adding value to those around us.”

In Zach Mercurio’s article, “How to Create Mattering at Work,” he identifies three primary drivers of mattering at work:

1. Feeling Noticed

2. Feeling Affirmed

3. Feeling Needed

Dive into his article to gain insights and strategies on how you can notice, affirm and show people how they’re needed. You can also watch this quick three-minute video, Mattering: 3 Skills for Leaders | Zach Mercurio, where Zach provides a tangible example for each of these primary drivers.

Professional Development Website Coming Soon!

Save the date. The Student Affairs Professional Development Google Site is scheduled to go live on Monday, April 14. Be on the lookout for email communication and a direct link to the site. We encourage you all to dive in and explore once the site goes live!
