Save the date! Austin Community College District hosts its Fall 2026 General Assembly on Friday, September 25, at ACC Highland Campus. This year’s theme is “A Reimagined ACC: Building for What’s Next.”
The future of ACC is being shaped every day by the people who help and teach our students. During the General Assembly, employees from across the College get together to celebrate our mission, connect across departments, and spark new ideas for the year ahead.
This year’s theme emphasizes the College’s Institutional Effectiveness Report Card and AI/Innovation, reinforcing ACC’s transformation within the Theory of Change and the College’s North Star vision. The day will include an energizing morning program and engaging workshops.

Training Fellows: Looking Back & Ahead
For the past two years, Christine Hall, Stefanie Vermillion, Amber Martinez Vazquez, Andrew Silver, Martha Dorow, and Belinda Pena have played an important role in strengthening professional learning across Student Affairs. Through their dedication, collaboration, and expertise, they helped create new opportunities and resources, including New Employee Orientation, New Supervisor Training, the Staff Development website, professional development offerings, and the Business Knowledge video series. We are so thankful for the energy and enthusiasm they brought to this work and for the impact they have made on our department. We celebrate their accomplishments, thank them for their service, and wish them all the very best in their future endeavors!
As one chapter closes, another begins. We’re excited to pass the torch to our next cohort of Training Fellows, who will carry this work forward while bringing their own unique talents and perspectives to professional development across Student Affairs.

Resource Highlight: The Power of Peer Feedback
Make feedback part of how we work, not something reserved for formal reviews. Use meaningful, ongoing feedback to help colleagues grow, strengthen relationships, and stay aligned with shared goals. Show your colleagues you value their contributions and development by using the Give Feedback feature in Workday to recognize, encourage, and support them along the way.

The Courage to Say What Needs to be Said
Hosted by Andrew Silver and Amber Martinez Vasquez, this interactive workshop empowers participants to approach difficult conversations with confidence, clarity, and purpose. Focusing on conflict management, participants will learn practical strategies to initiate courageous conversations with both peers and supervisors, while addressing the common fears that often hold us back. Through guided discussion and real-world scenarios, the session explores how to navigate tension, communicate effectively, and maintain professionalism in challenging situations. Participants will also discover and better understand their communication style while exploring how to manage conflict productively and build stronger, more authentic workplace relationships.

Fall Semseter Starts Next Week: The fall 2026 semester begins Monday, August 24. Whether students are new to ACC or returning, a little preparation now can make their first week easier. Before classes begin, encourage students to take a few minutes to prepare.

Extended Drop-In Advising: This summer, ACC advisors will offer Drop-in Advising to provide students with quick academic support. From July 20 to August 28, students can meet with any advisor, on any campus or online, to get help picking classes or planning their schedules. No appointment needed! Fall Job Fairs: ACC’s Career Life Design Services team is gearing up to host a series of job fairs this fall, tailored to ensure our students are well-prepared for their future careers. See all the upcoming dates here. To help students make the most of these opportunities, our Career Life Design Services team offers personalized support with resume writing, interview preparation, networking, and more! Students can schedule an appointment with a Career Specialist at austincc.edu/career.

Student Loan Workshops: Help students better understand federal student loans by sharing Loan Zone, a free virtual workshop hosted by the Office of Financial Aid. Students will learn about borrowing, repayment, and managing federal loans while getting answers directly from financial aid experts. If you work with students who have questions about paying for college, encourage them to attend. Students can RSVP here.

C.A.R.E. Network Faculty/Staff Toolkit: This toolkit gives you everything you need to connect students with ACC's C.A.R.E. Network and Basic Needs resources. You don't have to know all the details about each resource - connecting students to a C.A.R.E. Coordinator is enough!

Student Basic Needs Questionnaire: As we start the new academic year, ACC’s Basic Needs System is asking for your partnership on something that can genuinely change students’ lives: the Student Basic Needs Questionnaire. As our frontline staff, many of you are the people students turn to when they’re struggling — which makes you some of our most important partners in encouraging students to complete the questionnaire. Students can complete the survey now through September 25.
