Student Affairs Staff Updates

New Beginnings

We’re excited to welcome and celebrate the newest members of our Student Affairs team and those who have recently changed positions!

Join us in spotlighting our Student Affairs colleagues and congratulate them the next time you see them on campus.

ACC invites all employees to join us for General Assembly 2025 on Friday, September 26, at Highland Campus or online. This signature event brings faculty and staff together to celebrate our mission, connect across departments, and spark new ideas for the year ahead.

This year’s theme emphasizes inspiration, connection, and love, reinforcing ACC’s belief in “Loving Students to Success” as a driver of transformation within the Theory of Change and the College’s North Star vision. The day will kick off with an energizing morning program, followed by lunch from local food trucks (for in-person attendees) and engaging afternoon workshops. Click the button below to learn more about this year’s event!

Professional Development

Have you explored our newly revamped Professional Development website? It’s packed with updated tools, upcoming learning opportunities, and a robust resource library to support your growth.

Take a few minutes to explore what’s new—and don’t forget to share your feedback so we can continue improving it for you!

In Case You Missed It

  • Understanding the Rhythm of the Semester: To better understand students, ACC looks at the student experience throughout the semester. Engineering student Kristen Nemain presented her report – “The Rhythm of the Semester”– during the May 9 Virtual Employee Town Hall. To gather data, she interviewed students to track and document the student experience during her internship with the Office of College Relations & Marketing. Click to learn more.
  • Power Up For Finals: The ACCelerators will host “Power up for Finals” from May 5–9 and May 12–16, offering free coffee and snacks to students who use ACCelerator locations to study. Faculty and staff are encouraged to remind students about these valuable resources and to direct them to the nearest ACCelerator for some extra motivation during this busy time.
  • Ascender Celebración: A celebration of achievement is the best way to describe the 10th Annual Ascender Celebración ceremony, held on April 26. The event brought together over 350 guests to honor 70 Ascender Catch the Next students who completed their first year of college in the program. Check out the full Ascender Celebración recap!
  • Join the Scholarship Review Committee: Support student success by joining the 2025–2026 Scholarship Review Committee! Each year, the ACC Foundation awards over $1.5 million and your participation helps make that possible. Email scholarships@austincc.edu to learn more or sign up!
  • Student Loan Information Workshops: Help the Office of Financial Aid by spreading the word to your students about Loan Zone - a virtual workshop where students can gain the confidence, tools, and knowledge needed to navigate their federal student loans successfully. Students can RSVP at austincc.edu/loanzone.
  • Professional Staff Headshots Paused: Due to limited staffing hours, the Student Affairs Communications team is pausing professional headshot services. If you or a team member needs a headshot, you can submit a request through the Office of College Relations & Marketing to connect with student photographers who are available for hire.
  • ACC Shares Basic Needs Recommendations: is implementing a new plan to improve student access to essential (Personal) resources. This work will focus on high-impact areas and provide resources that data show are most likely to reduce barriers to ACC student success, including food, housing, transportation, child care, and mental health support.
