Staff Updates

New Beginnings

We’re excited to welcome and celebrate the newest members of our Student Affairs team and those who have recently changed positions!

Join us in spotlighting our Student Affairs colleagues and congratulate them the next time you see them on campus.

Following the Riverbat Experience 2.0 in September and product voting conducted in October, the 2023-24 Transform_Ed cohort winners were announced last month.

Housing Connect - created by the Student Affairs cohort consisting of Vincent Bustillo, Dr. Traci Allen, Jana McCarthy, Karen Serna, Patricia Phea, and Eriko Tyner - was the top-voted product and one of three selected to receive support for further product development.

The cutting-edge product proposals developed by the inaugural Transform_Ed cohort, including Housing Connect, present opportunities for innovation, growth, and connection designed to elevate teaching and learning in higher education and beyond.

Professional Development

Let's celebrate our latest Student Affairs Culture Reboot Training cohorts! In October, we visited with supervisor cohorts at the Elgin, Rio Grande, and Round Rock campuses.

As Dr. Buchanan shared previously, our training with supervisors this fall is just the first stage of our Student Affairs Culture Reboot. All other Student Affairs staff will receive training in Spring 2025 before we launch our New Employee Onboarding experience for all new staff in Fall 2025.

Keep an eye out, as we'll be sharing more details soon about the Student Affairs Culture Reboot Training that all SA staff will be required to attend.

In the meantime, check out a couple of helpful Professional Development resources to help increase the power of your speaking.

Theses resources will provide helpful information on how to communicate directly without being cruel and strategies for how to effectively communicate in a way that gives your message leverage and invites others to listen.
