Happy Wednesday, Long Beach State! On behalf of everyone in your ASI student government, we hope your break has been as fulfilling as you need, if not more. Be sure to enjoy the rest of it, and don't forget to mark your calendars with upcoming events such as Queer Speed Dating , the Owen's Condition for Tuition Finale and Conscious Collection once school starts up again! This week's edition of Inside Student Government highlights the ways in which your student representatives are constantly working to ensure your voices are heard. Through the efforts of our governing bodies, our leading principle of shared governance is upheld within and throughout every division of ASI. Our work from last week was no exception, and we welcome you to learn more about it below during your time off. We hope your spring break finishes strong, leaving you recharged and ready to wrap up the semester on a high note. Have a great rest of your week!

PRESIDENT'S CABINET Mondays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)

Last Monday, the President's Cabinet met to discuss their roles in the planning of Conscious Collection , which will take place on April 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Art Gallery. They also discussed their outreach efforts, which include discussions with professors, COTA senators and clubs/student organizations. BOARD OF CONTROL Tuesdays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)

Last Tuesday, the Board of Control (BOC) met to discuss their status of funds. No actions were taken regarding student grants due to the lack of quorum. Items will be voted on at the next BOC meeting. To learn more, check out BOC agendas and minutes here .

LOBBY CORPS Thursdays - 2:30 p.m. (USU 234)

Last Thursday, the Lobby Corps met to discuss their lobbying efforts for SB 366: Cyberbullying in Higher Education, a bill that is currently in the California State Legislature. The body also discussed the specific roles they will play in the planning and execution of Advocacy Day. The Lobby Corps also addressed potential legislative visits that were not covered during CHESS.  To learn more about the Lobby Corps, click here .

IN THE SENATE Wednesdays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)

Action Item Summaries SR #2019-10: Bylaw Amendment Types of Elections (3rd Reading) – PASSED No changes were made to this resolution since its second reading in which a section was added to reflect the duties of ASI officers. The resolution was passed by a unanimous vote. Report Summaries Beach Pride Coordinator Sabrina Ware ­– reported on the success of the ASI Big Event for which over 4,000 tickets were sold. Promoted upcoming events such as Queer Speed Dating and an Asian American/Pacific Islander cultural kickoff. Chief Justice Lizbeth Velasquez – Lizbeth was absent, so Vice President Almahdi delivered a presentation on her behalf. Lizbeth is working on the Know Your Rights series which includes informative lectures from guest speakers on topics such as housing, immigration and other important issues pertaining to students. Lizbeth also reviewed the grade appeal language and policy to ensure it works for students. ASI Executive Director Richard Haller – provided updates on ASI/USU finances, a predicted increase in enrollment for the 2019/2020 academic year, operational information and updates regarding ASI staff and positions. ASI College Senator Reports – discussed their efforts to meet their constituents needs so far this semester, as well as their upcoming meetings, events and collaborations with other leaders on campus. TODAY'S SENATE MEETING Wednesdays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)

Due to spring break, the ASI Senate will not be meeting today.. The agenda for next week's senate meeting will be provided in the next edition of Inside Student Government.
