Hello, Long Beach State! With the days getting shorter and our fall break right around the corner, now is a great time to look back on our accomplishments as a campus community thus far.
One of the most prevalent successes this semester is the phenomenal voter registration efforts of our Lobby Corps . Thanks to your support, ASI was able to register many students and mail ballots from all across campus. With your help, we are increasing the political voice of all students at Long Beach State.
Students with an appetite for positive change can continue to express their voices through
Imagine Beach 2030

On a more personal note, I have closely been watching coverage of the California wildfires over the past week, as I am sure many of you have been, and I am heartbroken over the overwhelming loss of lives and livelihoods across our state. I know that we have many Long Beach State students impacted by these fires, either directly or through friends and loved ones, and I want you to know that me and my team are thinking of you. To reiterate our message from last week, if you are in need of personal assistance during these troubling times, please contact our amazing team at CSULB's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at (562) 985-4001. In difficult times such as these it is important that we check in with one another, lean on the people we trust and remember that we are One Beach.

PRESIDENT'S CABINET
Mondays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)

Last Monday, the President's Cabinet met to discuss Conscious Collections and student advocacy. The following report was heard:
- ASI Chief Government Relations Officer Bryanna Siguenza discussed Ballot Bash and the success of the Legal Needs Survey.
- ASI Chief Justice Henson discussed the recently elected Justice Christopher Forestiere and the 2019 Elections Handbook.
- ASI Chief Academic Officer Emely Lopez discussed Beach 2030 and encouraged students to register online.
The following commissioners reported on the following:
- Citlalli Ortiz (AB540 & Undocumented Students) reported on Open Forum Night and recent advocacy efforts for constituents.
- Vivian Napoles (LGBTIQ+ Affairs) reported on the AIDS Walk Long Beach, the International Photo Contest, an AS Senate Resolution that solidifies support for trans students and other recent advocacy efforts.
- Chloe Olvera (Wellness Affairs) reported on Campus Safety Walk, the #SameHere event, Project Chill and the International Photo Contest. Discussed recent meetings and goals to increase wellness and support for pregnant and parenting students.

BOARD OF CONTROL
Tuesdays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)

|
Last Tuesday, the Board of Control (BOC) awarded funds to:
- Lennox Scott - Association for the Advancement of Foster Youth - Friendsgiving
- Jesse Soria - Environmental Science and Policy - Environmental Science and Policy Career Panel
- Michael Wolfe - Video Game Development Association - 24 Hour Game Jam
- Josephine Inpanya - 117th Annual Meeting of the American Anthropological Association
- Kimberly Sanchez - American Public Health Association (APHA) 2018
- Keelin Dunn - Masculinity and Self-Compassion
The board passed the following Action Items:
- Organization Travel Grant Application (proposed revisions)
- This resolution expands the requirements for Transportation Costs and Lodging grants.
- Transfer of funds from Current Year Unallocated Fund (CYUF) to Student Travel Fund (STF)
- This resolution transfers $5,000 from CYUF to STF, with any remaining funds going back to CYUF.
The following reports were heard:
- ASI Treasurer Jesse Luna reminded the board to vote.
- ASI Senator Prudencio Gonzalez reminded the board to fulfill their presentation commitment for the 50 Organization in 50 Days and the 100 Classes in 100 Days initiatives.
- ASI Executive Director Richard Haller reported on the re-opened job listing for Business Office Accounting Supervisor, the projected fund allocation for the Board of Control and his review of the proposed revisions to the Student Research Fund application.

LOBBY CORPS
Thursdays - 2:30-3:30 (USU 234)

Last Thursday, the Lobby Corps met to discuss Election Day, the Legal Needs Survey results and their policy agenda.
The following reports were heard:
- ASI Chief Government Relations Officer Bryanna Siguenza reported on the success of the Elections Day event and upcoming CSSA and CSU Board of Trustees meetings.
- AVP Legislative & External Relations Terri Carbaugh commended a well-run Elections Day event and discussed updating rosters with new officials.
The body reviewed the need for legal advice among students during their discussion of the Legal Needs Survey. They also analyzed their 2017-2018 Policy Agenda and began the discussion for the 2019 Policy Agenda.

IN THE SENATE
Wednesdays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)

|
Last Wednesday, the Senate met to give various reports and vote on the following:
- SR #2019-05: Support Trans Students – PASSED
- This resolution intends to solidify ASI’s support for trans students and all other members of the LGBTQI+ community at LBSU. It highlights the resources that are available to trans students and ensures their student government’s continued advocacy on their behalf.
- SR #2019-06: In Support of Increased Transparency (1st Reading) – PASSED
- This resolution is in response to student concerns over a perceived lack of transparency regarding the handling of the recent Campus Clash event. It is expected to be overhauled in order to maximize its functionality with regards to ASI and the University Police Department.
- BOD #2019-23: Election of (1) Senate Rep to the ASI Media Advisory Board - PASSED
- Senator Howanksy was elected by a unanimous vote.
The following public comments were heard:
- Yesenia Salguero – reported on behalf of ASI Communications to provide details on events such as Movies on the House, Pizza with the Dean of the College of Education, Homecoming and National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
- Dean of Students Dr. Piya Bose – shared information and encouraged participation in upcoming events such as National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week and Imagine Beach 2030.
