Inside Student Government provides weekly summaries of all major board meetings within student government: the president's cabinet, lobby corps, board of control and the senate. Please take a moment to read the summaries from each section.

PRESIDENT'S CABINET
Mondays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)
|
|
Last Monday, the President's Cabinet met to provide updates on recent events, meetings and other efforts that support the various communities they represent. Meetings with various local leaders, such as Senator Tom Umberg, were highlighted.
Commissioners provided reports on the issues facing their communities and how they are being addressed. Issues pertaining to undocumented students, cultural groups, accessibility, environment, international students, LGBTIQ+ students, pregnant and parenting students, veterans, wellness and gender equity are among the top priorities of the cabinet.

LOBBY CORPS
Thursdays - 2:30 p.m. (USU 234)
|
|
The Lobby Corps met last Thursday to discuss district visits, contact with government officials and important updates from across the university.
The board discussed ongoing voter registration efforts, the California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) and other information regarding local and state legislators.
The Lobby Corps also discussed the EATS Act, which was introduced to address growing food insecurity among college students. They concluded the meeting by discussing their best advocacy policy moving forward.

BOARD OF CONTROL
Tuesdays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)

|
Last Tuesday, the Board of Control (BOC) awarded funds to:
- CSULB Anime Club - CSULB Anime Club Movie Night
- Campus Couture - CSULB Campus Couture 2020
The board discussed the ASI/USU Consolidated Financial Statement and the College Council 15% Reserve. Reports from Treasurer Villegas, Senator Chiu and Executive Director Nevin were heard.

Action Item Summaries
- There was no new business.
Report Summaries
- ASI President Lizbeth Velasquez - Treasurer Villegas presented Velasquez's report on their behalf. The boards was encouraged to utilize Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) in wake of the death of the Awaida family. The report also described recent advocacy efforts by President Velasquez, including a meeting with Chancellor White to discuss public education curriculum and other relevant topics.
- ASI Treasurer Reyalyn Villegas - discussed the recent Financial Literacy Workshops, BOC policy, scholarships and participation in the Intercollege Beach Pantry.
- ASI Chief Academic Officer Joe Phillips - reported on recent work completed, including filling vacancies on committees, meeting with the Provost and attending a variety of meetings. Discussed upcoming goals and student concerns.
- ASI Commissioner for Veterans Affairs Reece Renninger - discussed work completed since last meeting, including visiting the Veteran Services Office, researching possible grants to expand resources for veterans, and collaboration with various organizations. Also addressed student concerns and how they plan on addressing them.
- ASI Commissioner for Pregnant and Parenting Students Joelle Bobadilla - reported on recent meetings, events and changes in policy to support pregnant and parenting students. Discussed a variety of issues within the community they represent and how they will be addressed.
- ASI Executive Director Dr. Miles Nevin - thanked ASI staff for thoughtful vigil for the Awaida family. Provided updates regarding audits, budgets and other business operations within ASI.
- ASI At-Large Senators - Discussed work they've completed and upcoming goals to remedy student concerns within housing, athletics, the graduate and transfer community, and the LGBTIQ+ community.
