PRESIDENT'S CABINET
Mondays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)
The President's Cabinet met last Monday to discuss their advocacy efforts, policy and recent work towards achieving their goals. Individual commissioners discussed recent and future meetings with campus leaders, events of interest to their communities and other ways plans to provide resources for their constituents.

LOBBY CORPS
Thursdays - 2:30 p.m. (USU 234)
The Lobby Corps met last Thursday to discuss their ongoing goals to advocate for students in the various facets of government.

After hearing reports from student leaders, the board discussed their preparation for the California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) as well as district visits with government officials. Members of the board discussed upcoming meetings and what they hope to accomplish.

The Lobby Corps also discussed Advocacy Day, which they hope will raise awareness of the 2020 census as well as issues facing students.

The board also discussed potential bill ideas, a student trustee search at the Cal State Student Association and the #FixFinancialAid Campaign.

BOARD OF CONTROL
Tuesdays - 3:30 p.m. (USU 234)
Last Tuesday, the Board of Control (BOC) awarded funds to:

  • CSULB Dance Collaborative
  • English Graduate Student Association
  • Society of Women in Business
  • American Geophysical Union (AGU)

Action Item Summaries

  • SR #2020-05: Support for the Fair and Equitable Compensation of Academic Student Employees (2nd Reading) - PASSED

  • SR #2020-06: Increased Support and Access for Students with Disabilities (2nd Reading) - PASSED

  • SR #2020-07: Lock Installations for All Classroom Doors and Building Facilities (1st Reading) - PASSED

Reports Summaries

  • ASI President Lizbeth Velasquez - discussed recent meetings in which she discussed student concerns such as faculty diversity. Also discussed the need to support AB146C, the ethnic studies requirement bill.
  • ASI Treasurer Reylayn Villegas - provided updates from the Board of Control involving scholarships and grants to student organizations.
  • ASI Commissioner for Women and Gender Equity Affairs Hayli Antoniewicz - discussed ongoing work to provide resources to her constituents. Advocacy efforts included events, cooperation with the Women's & Gender Equity Center, campus surveys and more.
  • ASI Beach Pride Events Lead Leanna Meyers - provided details regarding previous on-campus events and promoted upcoming events such as Poet's Lounge, Kwanzaa, the Belmont Shore parade and finals week programming.
  • ASI Commissioner for International Student Affairs Debbie Catayong - discussed recent meetings and upcoming goals to provide resources for international students.
  • ASI Executive Director Dr. Miles Nevin - discussed other events happening through ASI such as Women & Ally Night on the Strength Floor. Provided updates regarding facilities and major projects on campus.
  • ASI At-Large Senators - provided reports on their continuing advocacy efforts within the communities they represent.
