With midterms in full swing and fall break just one month away, it's safe to say we've reached the halfway point this semester. The progress made by everyone here at Long Beach State has been immeasurable, but we hope to make it as tangible as possible in the contents of these newsletters.
An example of such progress was unveiled last Monday during the opening of the Family Friendly Study Area at the University Library. A peaceful, supportive area where pregnant and parenting students can focus on their studies in a uniquely accepting space is now available.
The fight for equality continued last week as several student leaders, including myself, attended the President's Commission on the Status of Women. We discussed our goals for increasing resources for women on campus and the importance of October, domestic violence awareness month, for all students. Several events throughout the month serve to de-stigmatize the conversation about domestic abuse and encourage survivors to seek support. I urge any interested students to attend these events, which can be learned about

Advancements towards Beach 2030, a 2-year initiative that will foster an adaptable, forward-thinking environment at Long Beach State, have been heavily emphasized recently. Today, your ASI Senators will receive a presentation on the progress and implementation of Beach 2030, as well as information on how students can get involved in the actualization of this noble vision. With our combined ambition, nothing can stop the progress of Beach 2030.
